My personal fanhood is expressed by my avi... I am all about the green koolaid.
My Celtics fanhood began with this team
I began watching the Celtics with the 1969 Celtics. That team had such heart and grit and they epitomized the term Celtics Pride. I've been hooked ever since.
There are individuals through the years that also epitomize Celtic Pride.
Of course, it all started with Red Auerbach and Bill Russell
Bob Cousy, the Hardwood Houdini. The "local yokel" that Red didn't want but that he ended up with and who ended up as a Celtics icon.
And Cowens and Havlicek
And you can't leave out Tommy Heinsohn, who to this day lives, breathes and bleeds Celtics Green.
And you can't leave out Johnny Most, the voice of the Celtics for so many years. If you look up in the dictionary Celtics homer you will find Johnny Most and Tommy Heinsohn right at the top of the list.
and then there were the wonderful years of the Big 3.
And now the wonderful roller coaster years of the new big 3.
And Jungle Jim Loscutoff who was the Celtics enforcer and Perk's forerunner.
And finally, my favorite player for the last 6 years. I love Perk and his work ethic and honesty and effort and loyalty to me show what Celtics Pride is all about.
Finally, the Celtics have ALWAYS been about teamwork. The Celtics have never had a scoring champion. They have always been about the team and playing their roles. That is basketball at its best and why I loved the Celtics in 1969 and love them even more today.
