I'm not sure I like the idea of Shaq starting for the majority of the season...you need to change your game plan to incorporate Shaq into your offense / defense and he's not really good enough anymore to be worth changing a good team's system.  As the focal point of the bench unit, fine.  But not as a part of our starting lineup.

I'd be worried that he would disrupt our system which has worked so well - and possibly team chemistry too.

Shaq would be great, especially with the other dull options that are out there on the market.

This tells me Shaq wasted the $300mil he made from the league. Or else he would've retired by now, or signed for Vet min for an actual contender. What other reason would make Shaq go to Atlanta, if its not about the money?

They were a good team who failed because of their lack of an ACTUAL center... Shaq IS an actual  center.

Really?

Did you ever think that he might enjoy playing competitive basketball? The guy has always had a competitive drive. Atlanta also has a good team, so why wouldn't he go there?

Plus, he lost his sheriff gig.

I'd take Shaq over Miller any day, especially with that fragile 7 footer we signed.

Competitive in Atlanta, Please! Atlanta isn't going anywhere with JJ as their 1st option. Shaq, being the ringchaser that he is, can do better than the Hawks. I could be wrong.

I'd love it, for many reasons ... and if I were Shaq and I wanted to end my career on a high note, Boston would be one of the best opportunities for doing so. I can't imagine there being much more hype than the C's and Fakers in the Finals again, (the Fakers looking to even the score of # of championships), but having Shaq face Kobe in addition, would be over-the-top for the hype machine.

I agree, it would be pretty darn scary for any big having to bang with not only Perkins but Shaq right after another!  ;D

I am fully onboard with getting Shaq on this team.  Not only did I think he was the 2nd best player on the court when both the Cavs and Suns got knocked out of the playoffs the past few years, but I'd be willing to spend the full MLE on him if that's what it takes.  The type of game that he has left is still very helpful to this team

Shaq could give that thug Howard a taste of his own medicine.  Now that would be nice to see.

Shaq seems to gravitate to the warm weather teams...Orlando, Miami, Phoenix, LA.  Cleveland is the only chilly place.  Don't know if this means anything at all.   ;D

Well, it would make quite a high light on his resume..."won rings on FOUR teams, including LA LAKERS and BOSTON CELTICS!" And that is something I feel quite confident in saying that Kobe could NEVER claim!

I'm sure Shaq will probably realize that he's a better fit on our team than on the Hawks up tempo type team. Another thing that plays to our advantage is Doc and his strategy to limit veteran player minutes during the regular season. Larry Drew is a rookie coach and there is no certainty on how many minutes he would want Shaq to play. And isn't Lue also a friend of Shaq's from their Laker days?

I guess we'd have to sign him if he wants to come and we can't get Hayward or Dampier.  But we keep getting older and older and older still.  If Finley doesn't come back maybe Reggie Miller will get the playing bug again :-\

I'm just happy the C's are interested in the right type of player.  Even if Shaq doesn't sign, at least Danny is trying to get him.  No Mikki Moore's trying to save the season.
