Does anyone knows if Erden's contract is NON guarenteed?

(please, please God. Make it so...)

Were over the CAP either way!!! j/k.

What could his guaranteed/non guaranteed contract be worth?  He can't be making anything more than vet min.

He's making the rookie minimum.  This year, that's $473,604.

Thank you as you mentioned not enough to concern myself over.

The guy just flew in from Turkey for God's sakes.  Ever flown that distance?  It takes an average sized person awhile to reacclimate.  This guy is 7 feet tall.  Give him a break.  How much English does he speak?  Did he practice?  Wow.  Pretty brutal in here.

What you say is true.  But honestly, the guy showed absolutely NOTHING.  He was a liability on the floor.  The coaching staff should have kept him out of the first game if he was jet-lagged.  Then throw in the concerns voiced by FLCeltsfan over his concenration and intensity, and that fact that he already has a contract (albeit non-guaranteed), and I think you can see where many of us are coming from.

Losses in the summer league mean absolutely nothing, so I don't see why they should have kept him out if he was jet lagged. I'm sure he was jet lagged, and he hadn't practiced with the team or ever played ball in america before, so what did people expect? It was good to throw him out there in the first game to get his feet wet and get him moving. I would hold judgement until another 3-4 games at least. I have played after long flights before and I was totally out of it, not only mentally, but my legs were shot.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
Imagine the nicknames Kevin McHale would have for this kid if he were still playing... :)

Erden had no practice with the team, is not familiar with the NBA game, and probably has a language difference to work on.  He looked tired and a lost yesterday.

However, he IS 7' tall (and as they say, you can't teach height)!  He has been playing Euro ball and probably has skills...

This is just the first Summer League game.  Give him a chance!  We could use a developing big man on the bench...even the end of the bench.  And don't seven footers usually (at the very least) have some trade value?

I am not ready to write him off, because the summerleague is a terrible place for bigs, and he hasn't had any practice with the team yet...but on first impression, he seems to have stone hands, and terrible footwork.  On the brightside, he clearly has an NBA body, and seems to have at least decent athleticism for a guy his size, so there is something to work with, but I do not have a lot of confidence in him being an NBA player so far.

And again, it's early.  At least as of yet, Danny has not tried to sell him as a contributor next year (hopefully, that isn't the case).  Maybe riding the bench for the next couple of years and practicing against Perk and KG will teach him a couple of things and make him useful in a few years.

Plus, I don't think Danny (or any of us) need have high hopes for the former 60th pick in the draft.

I also don't think its a given that he makes the team.  He certainly is going to be given every opportunity, but if he does not impress a bit more in training camp, he will likely be gone.  I expect Danny to bring in some more big guys for training camp, where there will basically be an open competition for that spot as a developmental big man.

Ah, the silly season.  Nothing better than judging a guy based on 21 minutes played in his first summer league game.  I know it's that time where there isn't much to talk about, but are we really throwing a fit over this guy already?

I agree he looked bad yesterday, but not in the traditional sense of a "big white stiff".  He actually looks a bit more coordinated then your average 7 footer, but not very strong.  He seems like he'll get pushed around trying to rebound or defend, but might develop a nice offensive game at some point.  And, I also noticed that he did a good job on two occasions of not bringing the ball down - but going straight up with it after getting fed the ball.

I almost forgot....if he shows anything at all we still have the Red Claws option.  Get him a little experience under the tutelage of Austin Ainge...

The thing about Art Parkahouski? He has pretty good feet. He's not super fast, but he does move his feet pretty well on both offense and defense for a guy his size.

The other thing I noticed, when he seals a guy, they usually don't get around him on the boards. He sealed Ibaka a couple of times and then swallowed up the board.

I would defiaately be looking to sing this guy as our 3rd string center.

I knwo it's only one game but it's hard to find big men who can move their feet. And he had no problem banging with ibaka and while young, Ibaka is an active, physical guy around the boards.

Art has good feet and he's  got a very strong body that can bang aroudn the boards at the NBA level. You combine that with having put up good nubmers against some elite programs...

I think this guy will be a Za Za Paculia type but better numbers all around within 3-4 years. At worst a good NBA back up center.

Erden? I expect him to be cut, for sure.

Brad Miller / Perkins / Art Parkahouski
KG / Baby / Kurt Thomas ( if available )
Pierce / Gomes / Harangody
Ray / Fernandez / TAllen
Rondo / Lafayette / Bradley

We raise #18

That's my team, what I go after.

True.  But he still takes up a roster spot even on the Red Claws.  So, they need to really think he can be an NBA player to keep him on for that.

Happens every year.  Same as when a FA 2 puts up 20 in one of these games and people here start pushing to start him in Ray's spot.
