The thing about Art Parkahouski? He has pretty good feet. He's not super fast, but he does move his feet pretty well on both offense and defense for a guy his size.

The other thing I noticed, when he seals a guy, they usually don't get around him on the boards. He sealed Ibaka a couple of times and then swallowed up the board.

I would defiaately be looking to sing this guy as our 3rd string center.

I knwo it's only one game but it's hard to find big men who can move their feet. And he had no problem banging with ibaka and while young, Ibaka is an active, physical guy around the boards.

Art has good feet and he's  got a very strong body that can bang aroudn the boards at the NBA level. You combine that with having put up good nubmers against some elite programs...

I think this guy will be a Za Za Paculia type but better numbers all around within 3-4 years. At worst a good NBA back up center.

Erden? I expect him to be cut, for sure.

Brad Miller / Perkins / Art Parkahouski
KG / Baby / Kurt Thomas ( if available )
Pierce / Gomes / Harangody
Ray / Fernandez / TAllen
Rondo / Lafayette / Bradley

That's my team, what I go after.

Not bad, Scooby.  I don't really think we need Gomes in there, especially with Harangody, but I like the bold moves with Art and Oliver.

Do you know if he has any offensive skills?  Because it is really tough for someone as slow as Parakhouski to make it in the NBA without exceptional skills.

Also, Pachulia is a very skilled big man, and is a significantly better athlete than Parakhouski.  I think Aaron Gray is a closer comparison.  But Gray has made it in the league because of his ball skills, so we will have to see if Art has the same.

Parkahuskie will be an "All Pro", mark it down.

The guy fell down a lot.

Art certainly scored in college, supposedly with good hands, from the post and with a turnaround jumper.  Not a high % on his FTs, however.

Good call Chris, Aaron Grey might be a better comparison. I just think it's very, very hard to find big men with decent feet and a good build. While his speed might be more like Aaron Grey, he ha s leaner body like Za Za.

He got up to block a few shots yesterday, also at the end of the game had that 3 point play where he went up 2-3 times relatively quickly for the ball before getting fouled on the lay in. He's also a decent passer, doesn't amke a lot of mistakes.

But the thing I liked from watching him yesterday was that physically he held his own and got his hands on alot of balls. He'a little bit of a banger. Ibaka didn't abuse him.

Watch his feet on pick and roll overs, hedges, etc. He moves fairly decently for a guy his size.

With some good trainers and experience, I'm thinking he's a guy you might be able to mold a little.

Key think for me, he's strong enough right now to bang around the glass in the NBA. You put him with top notch trainers, work more on the speed of his foot work. He could be a decent 3rd string guy, maybe better. maybe.

I certainly agree with you judging by yesterday's game, Chris, but I still want a 7 footer on the team, and am going to withhold judgement, giving him the advantage of every excuse.  Danny may have seen something in him, or maybe he just feels it is time to fish or cut bait.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
He's fortunate that he's TALL...if he weren't he wouldn't be given the opportunity he will most likely receive.  We'll see if Clifford can work the kid around a little...  But honestly, after what the mediocre stats I had seen of him and now witnessing him in action, he doesn't have a feel for the low-post game on offense and I have my doubts he can grasp this defense either.

We'll see what kind of pride he has come the next game (as I'll give him the jet-lag mulligan).

Thanks Clover. Agreed on Gomes but I've always liked his intelligence on the court and on a team like ours with alot of Vets, Gomes will find all the open spaces to hurt the other team. He's sneaky like that. What I'd actually love is Travis Outlaw or Miller behind Pierce...Fernandez behind Ray, jsut not sure how we could pull that off...

I'm pretty confortable with Art as our 3rd string center Project, especially if we have Baby and Kurt Thomas at PF, who could fill in if Brad Miller or Perk were out and Art was panning out.

I'd also serioulsy consider some vet point for the Vet min behind Rondo, rather than the inexperienced Lafayette, though i like him...

Maybe Rasheed and a future 1st for Fernenadez and Gomes ( signed and traded)

Somehow get the two Millers to split the mid level?

Brad Miller / Perkins / Art Parkahouski
KG / Baby / Kurt Thomas
Pierce / Miller / Harangody
Ray / Fernandez / TAllen
Rondo / Vet point or Lafayette / Bradley

I put Gomes in initially instead of Miller because I doubt you can get both Miller's with just our Mid level.

If I had to choose, I'd take Brad Miller, trade Rasheed & change for Fernendez.

Gome is a decent consolation prize if you can't get Mike Miller....

The coaching staff should have kept him out of the first game if he was jet-lagged.  Then throw in the concerns voiced by FLCeltsfan over his concenration and intensity, and that fact that he already has a contract (albeit non-guaranteed), and I think you can see where many of us are coming from.

I would say the opposite.  Throw him out there especially if he is jet-lagged to see how he reacts mentally to adversity.  If he can't perform at the level he is used to, will he do stupid things out of frustration or will he stick to the game plan?

Not being able to practice with the team didn't help either.

You're probably right, Mike Miller is probably out of reach for us, but I like that lineup indeed.

I am sorry, but a team that relies on Rudy Fernandez to be the primary SG backup will go down in flames real quick.

You think so, even as a back up for 10-15 minutes a night? Personally I like TAllen ok, especially on defense. But I'd really liek to see Ray's minutes at 25-30 a night this season if he's still with us. I'm not sure Tony's Offense warrants him getting 20-25 minutes a night...

Who would you like to see behind Ray? Or better, what would prefer to see at the off guard spot in general this upcoming season?
