Why didn't Cole Aldrich play?

That is disappointing. Aldrich was the only reason I was going to watch the game later on.

Cole won't officially be a Thunder until the FA signings can happen on July 8th because they used their eventual cap room to take on MoPete and the pick.

And only 2 things I was impressed with for Semih were his size and mobility.
Ohh, thanks for the info.

Good news, so we'll probably see him in the later games in this SL. I'll look forward to that.

Watched part of the Indiana game earlier today.  I think Bird might have got the steal of the draft in the second round in Lance Stephenson.  He really looked NBA ready.

Totally agree. They had him play PG which I thought was interesting. Looked a lot like Tyreke Evans.

From the little I saw, Erden looked S O F T.  Art at least bangs, holds his position and rebounds.  Mullens just thoroughly abused Erden.

I think Erden's conditioning had a lot to do with him playing soft. You could tell he just did not have the energy to play hard for very long. Still a poor game from him.
Don't know about his energy, but he had no idea how to play defense or rebound.

Yeah he pretty much couldn't have played worse but I'll give the benefit of the doubt because he was the only player who didn't get to practice and he has never played American basketball. That's all I'm saying. I don't want to come down too hard on a player I have seen play only once.
He practiced over the weekend, at least once. I am all for giving him a chance, as you can't teach size, but he looked overwhelmed today. Cliff Ray definitely has his work cut out for him with the kid.

Did not like Gaffney. Hustle player; but did not play smart.
Harangoudy did great; but like BBD will struggle to get his shot off. Not sure we have room for two undersized bigs coming off the bench. He will burn it up in D-league, but don't expect his to stick.

Well I'm glad at least one other person saw his mobility.  It's hard to judge big men in a SL game, which tends to be run-and-gun thus favoring wings players and guards.  Every guy out there is fighting for a job, and so there's a strong motivation to shoot the ball if you get it within range rather than play a team concept.  If it goes in you look like a prospect, if not you look like a bum.  That's the roll of the dice in SL.

But back to Erdin, I saw him make a few post moves, getting underneath his defender and drawing a foul.  As bad a he looked on defesne and on the boards (especially while trying to cover Mullens) we really don't know yet what this guy can do.

When I read in the profiles that one of Erden's major weaknesses is a lack of intensity and concentration and that he has mental lapses big red flags went up.  I would ten times rather have a guy without the athleticism or size who has intensity and whose mind is in the game every minute and who has a high work ethic than a guy who has the athletic tools but has mental lapses (See Green, Gerald or Olowokandi, Michael, or any number of players with the physical tools but doesn't have the BB mentality.

Caroll has sweet shot and knows how to score; but was totally abused on defensive end. Real matador.

Harangody is a good player. The guy has a short neck and thats why he is listed as 6'8. But his shoulder and arm length is of a 6'10 guy.

He can really score and is crafty. Reminds me of Al Jefferson the way he is crafty but different with different style.

He also seems like a smart player. But i think we will truly appreciate about him is that he is extremely consistant (all the scouting reports say). Even tonight going 9-13 , its like ne never stopped playing the next college game. Rebounding numbers maybe lower than he is used to but with experience could get 7 to 8 if he plays enough minutes.

Lafayette - Reminds me of Jamal Tinsley which is a bad thing and a good thing. He doesn't have a standout skill but plays a good game. Defense is not the best like tinsley. At some parts of the game Maynor adjusted and put it to him. If we didn't get Bradley maybe we keep him but not sure if he will make the team otherwise

Parakhouski - Can rebound from what i can see. Thats about it for now.

Gaffney - Looks like he should be more athletic and quicker but is not. He can get up and down the court but otherwise call me unimpressed for now.

Erden - Absolutely lost. Can't understand the plays or something. Didn't seem like he wanted to own the paint. Looks a little soft with the appearence of being tough with a power dunk here and there.

Gaffney is working his way back from a foot injury so I would say give it time. If he sees time this year it means we are racked with injuries

Carroll absolutely collapsed under the Pacers' pressure in the 4th.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
I'm at the office...couldn't watch.  But how did Erden look today?  It appears he was the invisible man on the boards...

Anyone know why Gaffney did not play much in the second half? With him in they ran up a nice 27 pt. lead. But did not look like he played at all when Indiana made their run.
