EDIT:  Also a low turnover guy and I just realized is going under surgery which will probably drive his price wayyy down.  Possible steal here I think.

If Danny wasn't willing to risk signing Leon Powe for minimum wage, I can't imagine he's even contacted Howard....Who even post-surgery would command much more.

There's a huge difference in the 2 players.

Leon Powe:  7th or 8th man at best, torn ACL and meniscus in May and didn't return until after the all-star break.  Was the injured knee the same one he injured in college?

Josh Howard:  NBA All-star at best, torn ACL in february and expected to miss "6-8 months from Feb. 22"
2020 CelticsStrong All-2000s Draft -- Utah Jazz

Finals Starters:  Jason Kidd - Reggie Miller - PJ Tucker - Al Horford - Shaq
Bench:  Rajon Rondo - Trae Young - Marcus Smart - Jaylen Brown -  Peja Stojakovic - Jamal Mashburn - Carlos Boozer - Tristan Thompson - Mehmet Okur

Powe had both knees injured previous to his injury with us.

Simply making the financial analogy.  Danny wasn't willing to essentially give a roster spot at minimum wage to an integral part of the team.

It would be hard for me to fathom giving at least 6-8 times the money to somebody coming off the same injury to be a backup 3 to Paul Pierce.  I have no knowledge of Howard playing 2-guard and he's sure not going to play the 4.  Marquis was brought in to back up essentially 3 positions.  Howard is a more skilled 3.  But doesn't have close to Marquis' (perceived) handle or court vision.  So you're talking a 20mpg guy at most barring a Pierce injury.  So while in a different position, while being a more accomplished player, Howard's role with us wouldn't be much different from what Powe's was.  Based on that and the salary cap hit, I don't think Danny takes the risk.

That doesn't account for Howard's overt flakiness.

this dude likes to get high. that's why dallas got rid of him to washington but hopefully he has cleaned up his act and is ready for his come back in boston. would be huge incase ray ages even more this year and his slumps get longer...

I know plenty of completely successful and productive people who like to get high, but thats another discussion in itself.

Howard can't possibly look more stoned than his former teammate looked for us last year.

If your talking about Marquise your probably treading in a zone that will get a lot of people offended. I follow the celtics closely and don't believe there was ever even a rumor about him being on anything...

I follow them closely also.  Didn't say Marquis was stoned.  Had the kind of Mark Blount floaty look to him.
I'm sure it's just the way he looks, but yeah, Daniels always looks super high.  He looks like he just woke up from a nap while he's on the court.

Great analogy.  Marquis played like that often this season.

If you guys don't think the Celtics toke up occasionally, you've been watching too many NBA Cares commercials.

marquis looks like lil wayne...
but no with all that said im not saying i wouldnt want him. i would love to have josh howard on this team. i was just saying that could potentially be the reason why he is being overlooked because of his off the court problems but realistically its because lebron is the talk of the nba

I'd be more worried about him embracing MA's new found policies on marijuana and overlooking a chance at a championship.
