We were all drooling over this guy 2 years now. I think the whole league were enamored by this guy raw abilities. He fits the mold of what teams like. A tall, athletic, hybrid, shooter, and tons of potential. Funny how one bad season & one bad playoff series in 2009 hurt his stock. I wonder how much he worth now? You gotta think, the loser of the FA bonanza give him a hefty deal.

Haven't heard any of the media outlets talking about him, but lots of people around here talking about him as Plan B if we lose out on Mike Miller.  We know Danny was enamored of him at one point.  Very good shooter.  Not sure if he can play the 2.

EDIT: Looking at the stats on 82 games...  wow, 85% of his shots are jumpers.  Knew he was a jump shooter, but [dang]!  C's seem to be kicking the tires on a few other wing options (J-Chill, Morrow), seems like Outlaw might be a backup plan.

I have always thought he was an underachieving version of Tayshawn Prince. The fact that he hasnt been able to get minutes for Portland or serious interest in this years market is perplexing. I feel like he should be available for cheap as the season draws closer, of course he may be pricing himself too high.

For me personally, I thought Outlaw would have improved more in the past couple of years. I somehow had it in my head he could be like a poor man's... scottie pippen or something.

Id be happy with Josh Howard or Al Harrington if the price is right.

Al Harrington would be perfect. He’s a 3/4 that can spell Pierce AND Garnett.

Then we resign TA and Nate to provide depth at both guard positions.

If Avery Bradley impresses and can get himself a position, then TA or Nate may be expendable at the deadline.

Thats my plan.

I really like Outlaw and it would be great if we could sign him for a bargain... but it's unlikely I guess (although his stock may have dropped this year).

I remember a "deli guy" saying last summer that he heard from a friend that Outlaw was close with Danny's family or something like that and that he was going to sign with us. :P

I thought I heard that Outlaw has a heart conditions (like Terry Cumming of the Bucks way back in the 80's) so they have to limit his minutes.  He does have excellent size, athleticism and soem skills.  He would fit in nicely coming off the bench for Pierce, but yeay his name has not been out there this off-season.

Maybe I dreamed it, but I thought he blew out his achilles after being traded last season.

Celtics Basketball / Celtics Talk / Re: get Mike Miller via S&T, then Amir Johnson with the MLE

What has Amir done to make him worth the MLE?

There is a lot of the same fascination with Travis Outlaw.

Let them actually accomplish something in the NBA before they merit anything like that.

Amir is the Travis Outlaw of last year, and the Earl Watson of the year before.  I'm amazed that we look to role players who can't break the starting lineup on bad teams as our saviors on the cheap.

Before we invest money in these players let's lock up Tony Allen.  Without him doing the dirtywork on Wade, the messiah, and Kobe, we don't sniff the Finals...Let alone the last minutes of the 7th game.  We know what we have there.
