Remember that GM who said that Amare' was going to be an $8 million per year under the new CBA?   :P

Now all they need to do is sign and trade for Joe Johnson, and they are putting together Phoenix East minus Nash.

One more reason to be glad Rondo resigned when he did.  I could see NY going after Rondo as that up tempo PG.

Amen to that. I wonder if the Suns keep Nash or blow everything up. I think they should trade him to NY for some combination of a trade exception, Chandler, future pick, etc. I prey they won't trade him to LA.

that's a big minus, especially compared to a team that never won it all, and they don't even have Joe Johnson yet. The Knicks are hurting if they don't land lebron.

They keep Nash.  He still creates excitement, wins and money.

I expect a sign and trade so Phoenix can create a trade exception.

Dude Rondo gets 80 million after this last post season and in this market. I mean look at Rudy Gay and no one would trade Rondo straight up for Gay unless they had Rose, Paul, or D Will already on their team. Whenever you say Rajon Rondo now you better follow it up with "Bargain for the Celtics!"

That's the main reason we are glad he signed when he did.

Ford and Hollinger have said that in order to sign Hakim Warrick, the Suns had to renounce rights to Amare, so a S&T to recoup something is no longer an option for them.

If LeBron passes on NYC, I'd expect a S&T of Lee to Phoenix for Nash.

Knicks fans and owners breathe a collective sigh of relief.

And in other news: Warrick a four-year, $18 million contract? seems pretty reasonable.

This is pretty good for the Knicks.  Did they overpay for Amare yes?  But at least they get an all star PF who the coach knows.  They EASILY could have gone 0 for 5 or 6 or whatever with FAs.  DWade and Lebron were NEVER coming to NYC.

I think this signing should be judged on whether it is enough to convince LeBron James or Dwyane Wade to join or not.

If it is enough, then great, it's a good move.

If it is not enough, then I think the Knicks would have been better off re-signing David Lee at a lower price tag.

I wouldn't be surprised if, after it all, Lebron chooses either Chicago or the Nets--and probably the Nets.

Who pairs with Amare?

I'd say NYK miss out on Lebron and ends up keeping David Lee and being the team (with competition from the Clippers) that gets to overpay Richard Jefferson or Raymond Felton.  Still a good team, but not a Lebron/Bosh type of dynasty.  A Jefferson/Amare/Lee frontline looks pretty good, but not great.  Felton feeding Gallo and Chander would be okayish.  They won't suck, but will be a 6th-8th seed every year and not get better.

Lol I know. Thank God we did too. Remember we waited till the very last second to do a deal?! They had to extend the window for us.

Not true, Warrick hasn't officially signed the contract with them.

They can sign and trade with New York without taking salary back because New York is under the cap. Then they can sign Warrick.
