Pierce Update (verbal agreement before July 8?)

The Boston Celtics and captain Paul Pierce's representatives opened talks on a new contract Thursday and are making progress in negotiations, according sources close to the situation. While Pierce has received introductory inquiries from "a few" other teams, Boston is the only team he's currently engaged with, sources told ESPN.com. ESPN.com

This is from Mark Stein's story.  There is no verbal agreement, the C's just think that they will get one before July 8th.

Really, the only news from this story is that Pierce is only negotiating with Boston right now.

If true then that is great news! Now Danny could concentrate on the other "rumored" targets for the Cs, including Ray Allen of course. I truly believe that Paul and Ray are gonna return to the fold, now that Doc's back.
