I have no idea why we would do that trade. To be honest I cant really even think of a trade that would make sense talent wise to the mavericks unless it was some sort of Dirk for Pierce trade. However, if that trade ever happened it would just be wierd and make both teams worse.

Buck off, Dallas. Although I'd like Pierce to win his second championship hopefully here.

How would Pierce make Dallas worse?  Pierce and Dirk would be awesome.

LOL. My thoughts exactly. Put away the checkbook slowly Cuban and no one gets hurt.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

Presumably, we'd waive Dampier because of his non-guaranteed contract, making this proposed trade Caron Butler for Pierce.

Anyone here who would do that trade?  Anyone?  Anyone?

  • Another undersized Celtic...
I guess it depends. If the knicks overpay for Ray and he bolts and Pierce feels he'd have a good shot in Dallas, it would mean rebuilding time for us. Caron Butler isn't an upgrade other than he's younger. Dampier wouldn't be a bad center in the East to swap in and out with Perk (when he returns), but I'd rather get something done for Brendan Haywood than either of those guys. If there was a way (and don't slaughter me cause I haven't checked the salaries) to get Brendan Haywood and Jason Terry, I'd totally do it.

No interest in Caron Butler. I'd rather have straight cap space than his contract.

There is no point in Danny agreeing to a sign and trade with Dallas. Not with Rasheed retiring. The Mavs don't have enough assets to make it worthwhile. Better to just let Pierce walk for free.

For those who don't feel like opening the link:

Quote
"They could take Rasheed Wallace's contract that's going to be sitting on Boston's cap for the next two years. They could send Caron Butler and Erick Dampier's contract, which vanishes next season. The Celtics would be saving a lot of money and if they realize they can't keep Paul. And that's the only way it happens if they realize they can't keep Paul. That would be a plausible thing. Send him out of the conference and get something you were interested in at the trading deadline to being with."

No thanks.

Hurt him and take some of his money! Maybe some sweet Mark Cuban money would lure a top free agent. ;D
