Putting these two in a same sentence is blasphemous. However, One of these guys could help the Celtics next season.

Would you rather:

Shaq/KG
Miller/KG

Miller. He brings shooting, rebounding and OK defense, and probably good defense in the team' schemes.

Shaq only brings a presence in the post but he is a liability defensively and he might cause chemistry issues, not to mention he is too old, so no, thanks, I'd take Miller in a heartbeat.

It all depends on the price.  I want neither for anything close to the MLE.  But since I think Miller would be cheaper, I go with him.

I'm a Shaq guy myself. Even at this stage of his career, you must account for him or he'll make you pay. He best asset is getting the opposing team in foul trouble early and often. Something the Celtics could use dearly, since Pierce is the only one who gets to the line nowadays. He remains a load inside. Brad Miller shooting is overrated, he shot the 3-ball way worse than Sheed (28%). And he isn't as good of rebounder as Shaq. Defensively both of them need help, that's why Perk coming back helps the team in that department.

Shaquille O'Neal -- at least he provides interior defense + quality rebounding

I agree that Shaq's offensive game is still unstoppable and that's what I acknowledged it as his asset. But, to me, that's his only asset. Sure, he can score down lown and put the other team in foul trouble but, on the other end, he just opens up easy ways for the opponent in the lane when they play pick & roll or simply throw a quick PG or guard in the paint. Shaq can only play D one on one at this stage of his career so he is a big liability for the team's defense. He is too slow to react in time to pick & roll and other stuff. Re-watch some highlights from Rose and Rondo during these playoffs and you will see how terrible he was (starting with Mo Williams' atrocious D of course, but still :P).

As for his rebounding it's not so good in my opinion, he still has a size and weight advantage but that's it, Miller wouldn't do better but not really worse.

As for Miller's poor shooting percentage last year, let's not forget almost all his attempts came from the perimeter and he was kind of asked to replace Ben Gordon's spacing so it's kind of a moot point (like Sheed's career low in 3 point % this year because he attempt A LOT of them during the season, but shot better in the playoffs and took less attempts).

Anyway, my point is, I wouldn't spend a chunk of the MLE on either of these guys but if we could bring one of them with the veteran minimum I would take Miller. And if we really HAD to use some part of the MLE I would use it on Miller.

Shaq.  Not just because he'd give the Cs more than Miller, but he'd also be a huge help to Big Baby.  With Shaq, Baby can go back to draining those lovely 17 foot jumpers like he was 2 years ago and crashing the offensive boards.  I think it's clear upon reflection that allowing Sheed to float on the perimeter and force Baby down low was a huge mistake.

Shaq.

First of all his quotes would keep you entertained. Second of all I think the C's could use his post game physical D and rebounding more than B. Miller's high post to outside play. At any rate a title depends on KG playing really well in the playoffs IMO - which would mitigate Shaq's issues anyways.

I want both. You can never have enough veteran 7 footers on a contending team.

- When Cleveland loses Lebron, they'll be open to signing and trading Shaq. Rasheed and a 2011 1st rounder for Shaq and Leon Powe.

- Brad Miller 2 years at the MLE

C: Brad Miller/Shaq/Perk
PF:KG/Big Baby/Powe
SF: Pierce/T. Allen
SG: Allen/Daniels
PG: Rondo/Bradly

Reserve: Scal/Finley/Harongody

Or something along these lines is ideal.

Shaq. The guy is still a beast for 20 minutes per game. A center combo of him and Perk would be quite powerful.

Nice pick up, Baby had to become a banger last season. With Shaq, he can revert to his old self being perimeter oriented. Baby made a huge sacrifice last season. His versatility gives Doc multiple options. I don't even know if Ainge would trade him or package him with sheed.

At the minimum, Shaq.  Brad Miller might have better durability, but quite frankly, the regular season, not the playoffs is the big concern.  We can limp through the regular season with KG, BBD, and some bums (if Shaq misses time).  Come playoff time, Shaq in 15-20 mpg would be killer, particularly when some of our scorer are out of the game.  We could literally run the offense through him.

Shaq. I hate Brad Miller. Shaq could help Perk be a bigger better beast and he would be the best sub for Perk now and in the Post season.
Can't stop, Rondo!
