I think Chandler (and maybe a pick) for Sheed and Perk would make the most sense with Charlotte, or Sheed straight up for Mohammed.  But taking on Diop's contract would be a tough pill to swallow for a very mediocre big man.

I don't think I'd call it horrendous. I mean, it's essentially the end of an MLE deal for three years.

The thing is, if we are looking to keep our own MLE for a wing (because the wing FAs are better), we are going to have to take a player with a less than ideal contract to optimize Sheed's retiring contract.

and I think defending the paint is more important for a big that we might pick up than pick and pop....that's why Diop in my mind would be better than Brad Miller.

Plus, it leaves us with the MLE.

It's terrible for a guy who averaged 2.1 points an 3.8 rebounds in his career (1.2 and 2.4 last season).  The guy is just a really bad player.  He had a decent run in Dallas for about half a season, and was dramatically overpaid because of it.  

The C's have potentially two very valuable trade chips in Perk and Sheed's contract.  If they cannot do better than Diop's terrible contract, then Danny needs to quit.  

but I don't like trading Perk right now.

1) with Sheed retiring, you're still leaving yourself thin in the post.

2) Perk's value is probably at a low point due to the fact that he's now coming back from potentially major surgery.

I think at this point you need to stick with Perk and use Sheed, Sheed + Bradley, or the MLE to get the best big you can get and then hope Perk comes back toward the end of the season.

That's fine.  But Sheed, all by himself (if his contract is still on the books) will be able to net you someone significantly better than Diop.

As for Chandler, I would love to grab him. He can defend the rim and would have the back door alley-oop with Rondo all day. I'd rather package Bradley with Sheed to get him though because losing Perk still leaves us very thin up front.

Why Bradley?

I just threw Perk in there, because Chandler would essentially be replacing him, and since they are looking to dump Chandler's salary, they would likely give the C's another asset in return. 

But I would venture to guess that we could set up a sign and trade with someone like Tony Allen or Daniels, or Scal, or anyone else to even out salaries, and basically trade Sheed straight up for Chandler, and they will thank us for the saved cash.

Heck, I'd do Sheed for Chandler 7 days a week and twice on Sunday....I just don't think Jordan would go for that. I mean, he's there starting center, no?

as for adding Perk, I don't like it because it still leaves us very thin up front. I'd add Bradley before I'd add Perk.

He wasn't last year.  Nazr Mohammed was their starter.  Chandler was battling injuries, but also was in Brown's doghouse for much of the year.  

I think they would absolutely jump at the opportunity to save millions of dollars this season by getting rid of Chandlers deal.  There is no way the C's would have to include anyone like Bradley to get it done.
