or so the Boston Herald says.

http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/basketball/celtics/view/20100628important_week_tips_off_for_celtics/

Do you think it would take the full MLE to get him?

Any chance of splitting it between him and Brad Miller?

This is going to be a long week.  This is just speculation by the "journalist", just like we speculate on here.  It doesn't sound like there is any inside information, they just see that the C's need a wing, and Miller was a favorite of Doc's in the past.  I have a feeling we are going to hear about a lot more "targets" over the next few days, and I think there is going to be about the same amount of inside information to those stories as there is in the average post on this forum.

I think we will target a lot of guys because we will need a big and a wing to split the MLE.

If we can get Mike and Brad Miller to split the MLE, resign Ray and Tony along with drafting Bradley then we had a solid offseason.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Nothing really going on in that article.

I wonder how some of these guys land their jobs and why I don't have the same one.

It's not what, but who you know...  The internet has created a new kind of journalism, one in which anyone with decent typing skills can blog (ie. "make up") information...

Same reason I find it laughable that anyone would subscribe to ESPN's Insider - paying for rumors & made up information is kinda funny...

I'll believe half of this stuff when I see it...

I can't imagine we can really get them to split the MLE.  I think Brad might go for it, but I can't imagine Mike Miller will settle for less than the whole, at least not for a month or more when he may learn he can't do any better.

Still, I think I'd rather get Mike Miller and roll the dice on getting some vet big men at the minimum than miss out on him for Brad Miller.  Perk will be back at some point next season. And we can still make the playoffs with two mediocre big men helping us out until he gets back.

Completely agree... The team, along with almost all the other teams in the league, have to target almost every free agent on the market... Once both sides show interest is the only time that things really get started. If we didnt have a look at all the free agents on the market the team wouldnt be doing there job.

I think Mike Miller with get full MLE dollars per year.

I think Mike Miller is 30 years old?

I don't think I'd be willing to give him the full MLE for 4 years, and I'm pretty sure some team will offer that, and he'll likely go where the most guaranteed cash is.

So I don't think we'll get Mike Miller unless Danny goes all foolish with years, and we know after Posey that he won't.

We need to target FA's that we want on the team for the long haul, which is why Outlaw should be a target before Mike Miller.

Not really an insider information, neither a surprise because of our needs and Doc's relationship with Miller, but it would be good to see the Celtics go hard after Mike Miller.

He is tall, can shoot, pass, and he isn't too old. I don't know about his defensive skills though but he would be a good fit overall and a great scoring 6th man.

Let's hope he is the kind of guy tired of losing, ready to take a discount to join a winning team!

Yep. I'd rather Mike Miller as well. As far as the bench is concerned, if we could add Mike Miller with the MLE and re-sign NateRob and TA, we'd be a big man away from having a really solid bench.

My real hope is that we can package Bradley and Sheed's contract together and get a big from a team looking to dump salary.

So with MM we'd have:

Rondo/Nate
Ray/TA
PP/Mike Miller
KG/Baby
Perk/?/Erden/Radford guy...

I think it really comes down to bang for your buck.  And we won't get that until money starts drying up and people have signed.

I do like the idea of spending more money on a wing, since I think we'll get more value.  Brad Miller may be nice at the MLE, but could we get Big Z for the minimum?  If so, how much of a drop-off in talent is that, if at all?

I don't see us getting anything close to Mike Miller in talent at the minimum.

Also, during the regular season we could likely go "Posey" on teams and run lineups of Rondo, Ray, Paul, Miller, and KG.  Miller is 6-8 220.  It wouldn't solve our big man problems, but it could eat up 10 mpg of time at the 4/5.

Two Allens.
Two Millers.

Quick .. somebody phone Ricky Davis  ;D
Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

Come July 1st, I beleive we should really start pulling for Al Harrington. He can play and defend multiple positions and would be really valuable for this team. He can spell Pierce and Garnett, similar to Posey. He would also provide offense.

Enough with this talk about Brad and Mike Miller. They're washed up. We need talent. Its pretty clear that Ainge is going to make another Finals push so lets not sell ourselves short by getting average to below average players.

My proposal is sign either Harrington or Morrow with the MLE and then sign Ben Wallace with the vet min, though very old, he can still defend and rebound.

Harrington is an interesting idea, though I wouldn't call Mike Miller washed up.
