Another rumor is Detroit is trying to move Maxiel and Wilcox

In the trade machine we can do a baby for Wilcox, A Sheed for Maxiel.  or trade Sheed and Baby for both.

Now I wouldn't trade Baby for Maxiel, but both for both isn't that worth considering.  Maxiel duplicates Baby (undersized hustle player off the bench at PF) except he remembers better and Baby has more range.

Wilcox is a farely cheap option at Center and we can use the MLE on a wing and (hopefully somebody more spry than Brad Miller). another Big.

Thoughts?

I said the exact same thing in a post earlier in a different thread. Trade both Sheed AND BBD for Maxiell and Wilcox.
Then add 1 more big either with the vet min or through a trade like this.

Sign and trade Tony Allen(9 mil on 2yrs-Team option on the 2ndYr) for Morrow and Turiaf.

They get a defender/slasher in their starting lineup(and playoff exp) so their ball needy pg Ellis can score. Plus we take on Turiaf's contract and make Tony a possible expiring if they didn't fall in love with him.

Now here we would still have the MLE to sign either a big name or split on a couple role players if needed.
Can't stop, Rondo!

Its a downgrade in talent. Baby is much better player than either of those guys. And you tacking on salary in the future.

Agreed...  doesn't make us better, just different.  I'd pass.

With Wilcox, I'm assuming it's more of a salary dump move so I would think we could get him for Sheed without giving up BBD.

From the Globe: "The Pistons are looking to move Jason Maxiell and Chris Wilcox, who will combine to make $8 million next season. Maxiell is undersized but a fierce rebounder while Wilcox has the skills to be a productive player but lacks consistent desire."

What do you guys think about either of them? Could they help Boston, and is the price right for either one?

How on earth is Maxiell an upgrade over what we have? He looked terrible whenever I saw him last year, which I admit wasn't that much.
Isn't he just Big Baby with about half the skill?

Is Maxiell an upgrade over anyone we have, other than Sheldon Williams? Seems to me he sucked last year whenever I saw him play, which wasn't often, so maybe I'm being unfair to him.
But isn't he just Big Baby with half the skill?

double post, sorry

No.  Neither guy is better than Baby and both are overpaid.  If it was for the minimum and as a replacement for Shelden, sure, but otherwise, no.

Wilcox is 6'10" and makes 3 million next year (expiring I think). He'd be nice insurance, but it sounds like he doesn't have the drive. I think Doc and Danny are very concerned about good guy personalities vs toxic personalities.

Maxiel, no interest. We have Harangody and Baby already  ... .and this undersized banger thing we have going is starting to bother me.

i actually think that Wilcox would be a good replacement for Perk. he's got height6-10' , and is defensive minded. I can see him as a big body vs Howard. But seriously how much worse could he be than Perk?

I would LOVEEE to have Wilcox on this team. He can play the center position in the East, he can run the break, he has the ability to get above the rim, and he plays pretty decent defense. He would be an incredible addition to the bench would play nicely alongside Rondo.

He's only about 6'8 so we would lose a lot against the better and bigger Centers in the league.  Offensively he's probably more well rounded and doesn't wind up so he's got that going for him.
