per Yahoo sports this morning Celtics are targeting Brad Miller ......too old and I don't like him....I am no expert of who is available to fill the hole left by Perk and the Sheed retirement but surely there has to be somebody better than Brad flippin Miller to use the MLE

To me, he's one of those guys that you love to hate except if he's on your team, then you absolutely love him.  (See Noah, Joakim)

I think he'd be a relatively good fit and would certainly keep the toughness factor going with us.

There really aren't many quality Cs on the market this year for the MLE or less. Shaq? JO?

He's ok for a stop gap. I wish they had him for game 7 this year.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
He's identical to Sheed in most ways, though I'm not sure if his range is quite as deep. He seems to be stronger and is still a good passer and is not afraid to mix it up and do some dirty work. I like it, if we're seriously making another run in '11. It's a better option than Jermaine O'neal or Shaq-FU.

For the minimum, okay, but not a nickel of the MLE to any player that doesn't help us in the future.

Ugh! I have to admit, he is a better option than JO ... but I'd take Shaq in a heartbeat over BM.

I don't mind this at all.  As long as it's not for Sheed-money that is ..
Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

Two years ago he played pretty well, last year I thought he was toast. Don't like him, but hopefully he can eat up some minutes until Perk gets back. Ugh.

Yeah, I can think of worse ideas at this point, such as the rotting, fetid corpse of Shaq.,

Exactly. Miller would be a great addition to this team on a minimum contract but certainly not with part of the MLE. I find it intriguing that he is known to be interested in joining the "defending eastern conference champions", maybe he would take a discount?

Anyway, I hate him for his series against us in 2009 and his cheap shots on Rondo but he would be a good fit in the short term.

how far back do you expect Perk to get during next season?

I think we need a way more reliable big than Miller given that Perk may not be capable of starter minutes at any point next season.

This is by far the most important move Danny makes in this off season. IMO he needs to find a way to grab a big who at least looks like a starter.

Oh God, not another mid 30 something acquisition. I am not a big fan of 34 year old Brad Miller. God, if I was a Doctor, I know where I would be sending my resume to. D

Danny, find someone better- I don't want to have to root for Brad Miller

We need a younger bigger body inside...if Miller is your last option, then yes, but I would continue to look. And I would rather have Shaq than Miller.
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

The problem for me isn't Miller, it's the MLE.  I think it'd be much better spent on a quality wing.

Yes, Perk is out, but he won't be out the entire season.  In the meantime, we could get by with less at the 4/5 spot.  Quite frankly, a rotation of KG, BBD, Shelden, and Scal could still win this team 55-60 regular season games if everyone else is healthy (not saying that we should re-sign the last two, just an example).  So I don't see why overreacting to the Perk injury is all that important.  We will make the playoffs with or without him, so it's really just a matter of him coming back by then.

And once he is back, we really will only need 10 mpg or so from a backup, because BBD is ready for bigger minutes.

If we do go with Miller and don't have the MLE, we better hope that Tony Allen is even better next year and that Avery Bradley is NBA ready.  We desperately need some players to take pressure off of Pierce and Allen.

I like Brad Miller.

I wouldn't mind if the Cs signed him to a 2 year deal at what will probably need to be at least half of the MLE. (No way is he available for the min -- Centers don't grow on trees).

I think he would be able to step right in and fill the role that Sheed had as a back up big man.  In addition, I think he is hungrier and tougher, and plays smarter (not as many techs) as Sheed.

If he takes the MLE, then the questions that remain are: (a) is Ray resigned and if not, is he used in a S&T to get a quality SG back? (b) will management use Sheed's contract in a trade to fill positions of need (backup wing)?
Celtics fan for life.
