I don't get all the hate for Miller. Sure, I don't think we should give him the full MLE, but he's a solid starting center and the best option out there among a thin group. With the right minutes, Miller could easily give us 10 points, 7 boards and 2 assists per. He's still a very good passer for a big man and brings alot of grit. That being said, I think we need to get a big guy who has athleticism and can run the floor to compliment Miller. I keep reading that Erden could be brought over. His length and ability to run the floor could be the answer to that compliment. Or we could sign Amundson, but he may be too expensive.

I think the way to go is to sign Brad Miller and Mike Miller by splitting the MLE and bringing over Erden on the cheap. I still think we need to address the wing position off the bench. Surprisingly I haven't heard anything from Ainge addressing that hole. I think Mike Miller could fill that. But would he be willing to take half the MLE?

No way Mike Miller settles for less than the MLE.

A lot of teams need a center this offseason, and a lot of teams have cap space that other free agents won't take.  That means the full MLE will be the STARTING POINT if a team wants Miller.

Imagine if the Knicks miss out on all the big free agents?  They would likely end up overpaying for a Rudy Gay and then may throw a one year 10 million offer to a guy like Miller?  Is that smart? No, but it would preserve their cap space until next year.

I like Miller for the C's, esp if we re-sign TA with his lack of any perimeter shot. Miller would play the PJ Brown role quite well.

Not thrilled at all about getting Brad Miller. Bad defender. Only 7.4 rebounds per 36 minutes. Would rather get 1 of the O'Neals.

To me, he's one of those guys that you love to hate except if he's on your team, then you absolutely love him.  (See Noah, Joakim)

I think he'd be a relatively good fit and would certainly keep the toughness factor going with us.

It would remind me of when the B's got Chris Nilan.  We all hated him until he became a member of the B's, then he was awsome!

One argument for Brad Miller is that, when Perkins comes back, Miller has the kind of skill set (such as the ability to make free throws) that allows the Celtics to have some flexibility in some fourth quarter situations when Perk's lack of offensive ability makes him a bit of a liability.  I can see Miller being used to close out some games if he is backing up a healthy Perkins.

Another argument for Miller is that he can, allegedly, play power forward as well as center, meaning that he can possibly be used to help keep down Garnett's minutes after KP returns.  I'm really not sure what Perk and Miller on the floor at the same time would look like.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Big slow unathletic doesn't rebound or defend particularly well and he's old.

SERIOUSLY DANNY?!!!

I don't like Miller a lot but the fact is, this team is looking at an opening day roster with no active centers. We need to get people to man the middle, so it makes sense for an actual NBA center to be one of the guys we target. I hope we don't overpay for him given our desperation for size since the only methods we have available to acquire new players are the midlevel, trades, and minimum contracts. But it is a position that needs to be filled, and since we're looking at second-tier options, we're gonna need depth there too. I'm thinking Miller, a shot at Zoubek (he can at least be a 7 footer who rebounds), and my hope would be a sign and trade with Sheed's retiring contract for a guy like Przybilla or Foster or Mohammed. None of them are exciting options, but there aren't a ton of exciting options out there.
Go Celtics.

Dont like the idea... Would rather try and get Haywood with the MLE rather than waste it on Miller. Haywood is long, athletic, and defensive... Miller is old, slow, and plays the outside too much.

At only 34, is Miller really a fit on this Celtics' roster?

Not sure who posted it in this thread, but I challenge the notion that with a big man rotation of Garnett, Baby, Shelden and Scal the Celtics could win 55-60 regular season games. That rotation would get you more like 45-47 wins at the most.
