if there was one draft to trade completely out of, it was this one.  outside of a small handful of picks, this whole draft sucked, especially the 2nd round.

I'd say that Luke Harangody is a comparable player to Tyler Hansbrough, both in collegiate stature and NBA potential.  Hansbrough was projected as a 1st round pick throughout his college career and ended up picked in the lottery (13th).  Harangody got picked 52.

Consider that in 2008, the similarly undersized and significantly less impressive senior Darnell Jackson was picked 52.

It's very rare to get a 20-10 guy from a major conference that late in the draft.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

All I'm going to say is "2006."

Willie Warren and Stanley Robinson were still on the board at 52 and Danny took Luke Harangody?  Really?  Two players projected to go as high as late first round and Danny took a guy who some thought might not be drafted at all?  A fat, undersized white PF?

Ugh...gonna need somebody to explain the reasoning behind both of the Celtics' picks for me.  I really just don't get it.

Not a fan - at all - of Harangody, but as an OU graduate, I'm here to tell you that Willie Warren is headed for the D League. Doesn't defend at all, can't play without the basketball. Had a horrible soph year, on the floor and between the ears.

Danny's done so well taking undersized, productive PFs in the second round it's not surprising he stuck with that formula--for better or worse.

More important and on target this year, however, may be his inviting Artsiom Parakhouski to summer camp.  That, to me, is a classic Belichickian move: high production, size and strength from a smaller-conference guy.  Did well against the big guys, huge, strong and decent vertical for his size, knock is his lateral quickness and explosiveness, but smart and dedicated.  Think maybe a left guard from Idaho State.

That's what they said last year  ;)

Just curious, but are you a fan of anyone that was available when we picked in the 2nd round? I just think that criticizing a player picked that late in the draft is like shooting fish in a barrel.

Danny is surrounded by NBA scouts with a year-round scouting department and we're fans on an internet board speculating?

Well, yes...but look at how many first round picks were a bust, after scouts said they were great, first picks even, #1's....!

My guess would be that if the people who project where the draft picks go knew how to evaluate players they'd be working in the nba and not for some website.

If you have a legitimate question to ask, I'll answer it. That one is just you being combative, so it doesn't warrant a response.

And no, I don't like slow underachievers at the NCAA level, Mrs. Harangody.

Are you saying that Gody was a slow underachiever?  I'd agree about the slow part but underachiever seems way off base.

I'm not being combative at all. It was a serious question. I'm not trying to defend Harangody. I don't expect great things out of him, but I wouldn't expect great things out of anyone picked at 52. I'm not disagreeing with "Not a fan - at all - of Harangody", I'm just curious about whether you think he missed out on someone better. The shooting fish in a barrel wasn't directed at you per se, I was just of the opinion that whoever we picked at that spot would be easy to criticize and was wondering if you agree.

By the way, the pick that ended up being Solomon Alabi was available for a future second-rounder and cash. Apparently he really didn't impress (I know we had him for a workout).

The report came out that he had a medical condition right before the draft.
