If Perk is included in this deal we would have to make sure Cousins is there at #6.  Otherwise I'm not so sure I would pull the trigger.

Since Ellis dominates the ball the so much I could see us asking him to be our super sixth man off the bench to limit Paul's and Ray's minutes next year where all 3 average about 30 minutes a game.

I would love to somehow get Randolph from them but I don't see that happening in this deal.

I think Monroe would make for a good pick and roll player to go with Rondo as well.  Then sign a big defensive C with the MLE.  (or part.  Dampier is likely to get waived)

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Getting Ellis and the #6 sounds like a great opportunity. The problem though is that if we have to trade Perk to get it done that would basically call it quits on this team and signal the start of this team rebuilding. Not to mention, how this could affect Ray's decision to stay or leave. I'd definitely try to get Randolph included in any GS/Boston deal because trading Perk and acquiring Ellis is a move for the future, IMO.

Not really.  Sign another vet C and the team would have no problem competing.

I would like ellis here buttttt he needs to be able to come off screens and shoot the ball. Not just like Ray but similar because our offense would be offset with him in Rondo in. But would work if he figures out how to work without the ball and then penatrate coming off the screens. Something the owners and team would have to make sure he does cause we cant have him dominate the ball along with Rondo and Pierce.

I really dont think we are in on this.

I also thought that Ellis would be a bad fit here.

Then I remembered he may be the only guy as fast as Rondo is in the league. IF he could play defense (a big if), we would have the most dangerous running backcourt in the NBA.

Man up, Perk doesn't help us maximize talents in our year window we have left because he probably won't be 100% at any point during that year.

If they want a pure salary dump, I think we'd be better off proposing Andris Biedrins/#6 for Perk/sheed.

I would easily pull the trigger on a Monta/#6 deal as well, but only for the assests in such a lopsided deal. Rondo and Monta would not work, but you could probably make something really good happen in a subsequent trade with all those assests.

I doubt either trade is realistic, but we saw Miami and others do some things just for salary, so who knows.

Maybe Rondo and Monta in the half court doesn't work but if they can get stops and run it would work extremely well. They are both quick as lightning. Rondo has shown that his best games come when the team gets out and runs, Ellis is a perfect compliment to this style.

I don't think Monta is Danny's type of player. Undersized and a highly inefficient volume scorer. Useful as an asset or an experiment but that's about it.

Actually, I think Monta is exactly Ainge's type of player.  Highly athletic, and while he is a bit of a tweener, he is a true basketball player.

Danny has loved Monta since the year he was drafted, and I am sure that hasn't changed.

The problem for me is that I don't think Monta and Rondo are a good match together.

Either way, I don't think the C's have what it takes to make that trade happen.  While the Warriors are looking to package Ellis and the pick, I don't think they are looking for just cap relief, I think they are looking for legit talent in return, which the C's don't have a ton to offer.

I was against Monta for Rondo last offseason, but if we get the 6 pick and keep Rondo, I'm all for it even if it costs us Perkins

I think Monroe is going to be an excellent NBA player, and agree he would be great with Rondo.  Other than the top 4 guys (Wall, Turner, Favors, Cousins), I think Monroe is far and away the most likely to be an All-star from this draft.

I also think KG and Monroe could be a very good pair together.  Both can play either PF or C.

Resign Ray, Re sign Nate with bird rights, that's a 5 man rotation for PG-SG-SF of

Rondo, Ellis, Ray, PP, Robinson. Not bad. Shooters and slashers, mix and match.

Alternatively, let's say GS wants a full on salary dump and wants Pierce and Perk for Biedrins, #6, Ellis. Then we could use the MLE for Mike Miller.

Or, more appealingly, Perk, Baby, Sheed, and a modestly resigned TA (first year salary 3,000,000) for #6, Biedrins, Ellis. Try to Package #6+#19 for Cousins. Use MLE for another Big.

Rondo/Robinson
Ray/Ellis
Pierce/Ray
KG/Cousins
Biedrins/MLE

Huh. I didn't realize Danny had liked him that long. I stand corrected.  :)

I agree with you about Rondo/Ellis being a bad match. I cringe at the mismatches in the playoffs with those two.

I really don't want to see Monta in green.
