I would do that.  He has improved so much this past season.

I don't know if Phoenix would do it.

11 and 6 as a starting C last year.

I would love to trade #19 for Lopez.
Problem is that unless the Cs have a trade exemption to send back, no salary matches.

I would love to get lopez for #19. He is exactly what the c's need . An athletic, 7ft shot blocker/rebounder who has the potential to be a top 5 center in the league. Do it Danny!

On offense Rondo would be able to get him so many easy alley oops, kind of like how chris paul and tyson chandler used to do.

You really think Robin Lopez has the potential to be a top 5 center?

I think Brook does, but not Robin.  I think Robin is really in the Varejao mold.

I think it is tough for him to be a top 5 center, but agree that he would be in the varejao mold (which is still quite good -- definitely worth a #19 pick).

But again, unless the Cs have a trade exception, I don't see how the deal can get done.

According to shamsports, they don't:

Well currently in the NBA these are the best centers, in no particular order

Bynum
Howard
Bogut
Kaman
Brooke Lopez
Perk
Marc Gasol
Al Horford (really a PF)
Greg Oden (injury history)
Yao Ming (injury history)

So I guess you're right, I should have said he has the potential to be a top 10 center and a top 5 defensive center with his length, strength and athleticism

I agree with the guys you listed their (Except for Oden ;)) I wasnt trying to be rude, I really havent seen enough of him to make a judgement either way, just from what i have seen i have thought Varejao.  TP

  • Rondo = Good
I don't think Robin is all that good...probably a career backup or okay starter for his career.  But there's a good chance whoever we select at #19 turns out to be a non-contributor, so I guess it wouldn't be a bad trade.

I think you are underestimating his growth this season.

He averaged 11 and 6 as a starting C (at less then 25 minutes a game)

He is at worst, a solid starting C in the NBA.

I'm just amazed Cheapskate Sarver is actually trying to get a first round pick this year!  Or maybe he just wants to sell this one too...poor Suns fans.

Have to add Camby in if Oden is because Camby will start over him and was second in the league in rebounding. Also Noah should be on this list as well. Tim Duncan and Pau Gasol might as well be too. Duncan IS the center for the spurs and Gasol plays a ton of minutes at C when Lamar is in. Plus he might be the full time center if Bynum is used in a S+T like rumors have said.

I would also take Nene, Okur, Haywood, and Lee(might as well add him if Horford is added) over Oden. Oden is in the Dalembert, Robin Lopez, Okafor tier if you ask me.

Sorry forgot to mention in regards to the post, I would definitely trade 19 for lopez but I don't see Phoenix willing to give us Lopez after they got burned for giving us Rondo. Plus it makes no sense to trade a dirt cheap center on a rookie contract from a basketball or business perspective for the 19th pick.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Robin Lopez has proved he is much, much more valuable than the number 19 overall to PHO.

Okafor and Perkins are on the same tier.  They are essentially the same player.
