I think they've been moving him since the day after they signed him.

Bad contract, bad attitude.

I remember KG chiding him at the end of a Celtics-Warriors game, when Maggette forced up some shots to "get his numbers."

He's an anti-Celtic.

FWIW, Boston could shoehorn themselves into a deal, by offering Sheed on draft night.

BOS sends Wallace, receives Gadzuric
MIL sends Gadzuric and Darnell Jackson, receives Maggette
GSW sends Maggette, receives Wallace and Darnell Jackson (cut)

That contract they sign Maggette to was ridiculous before the ink was dry.  Corey would have been a great signing for someone at something like 3 years of the MLE, not 5/$50M.  Dumbest contract in NBA, everyone knew it at the time except the executives in Golden State.

Don't know who would touch that contract now.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
I think they've been moving him since the day after they signed him.

And even worse, someone will be stupid enough to take him off GS's hands.

I think Corey Maggette has a good game.  He's one of the most efficient SFs in the NBA because he gets to the rim and he takes a lot of free throws (leads the league in "star calls").  He's also a good rebounder for his position.

The main weakness for Maggs is the fact that he's never played on a team that asked him to play tough defense and he's not a good outside shooter, which limits his compatibility with lineups (have to surround him with shooters).

Still, if it weren't for his ridiculous contract, I'd love to have Maggs on the Celtics as a backup SF.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

The Milwaukee Bucks reportedly acquired swingman Corey Maggette on Tuesday in exchange for Charlie Bell and Dan Gadzuric, who will go to the Warriors.
This is quite a steal for the Bucks, and while Maggette's missed-game history is nothing to sneeze at, he's a good player and could help replace John Salmons if he signs with another team.

The deal appears to be done: Maggette for Gadzuric and Charlie Bell.

assuming they don't mind the salary (can't get FAs to go to MIL anyway) and skiles doesn't kill maggette for his bullfighter defense, that's a nice deal for the bucks.

Quote from: Adrian Wojnorowski
The Golden State Warriors and Milwaukee Bucks have completed a trade that swaps Corey Maggette for Charlie Bell and Dan Gadzuric. Marcus Thompson delves in to the possible reasons for the trade: “The Warriors get rid of one of their biggest contracts ([Maggette's at] 3 years, $31 million), which aids in their bid to add a difference maker this offseason. The Warriors now have two expiring contracts worth more than $13 million in Gadzuric and Vladimir Radmanovic.”

I think this is a good trade for the Bucks.  I think Maggette is an upgrade over Salmons.  With everything else they have, if healthy (always the big if) they will be better.

Fear the deer, folks:  the Bucks just got better.  If they keep Salmons, they're starting to look like they have some punch.

If they can parlay the expiring (and possibly insured) max contract they have into a star (or more), there will be another tough competitor in the East next season looking for a deep playoff push.
