Kobe Punch At Rhondo

anyone else see Kobe wind up and swing at Rhondo in the 1st quarter of game 7?  i'm trying to find a clip of that, it seemed so obvious, but got no mention from the announcers or the refs.  I'd like to see it again - no calls on stuff like that are ruining the game completely in my opinion.

I asked the same question on page 11 of the game thread.  It was pretty obvious even though Kobe missed.

hopefully someone comes up with a clip of it.  funny, that's the same guy so many people just can't believe he would kick perkin's foot out on purpose that resulted in his injury.

Really? I missed that. These playoffs have given me a lot of respect for the restraint and resilience of our players. If it was me I'd have snapped long before rammed a couple of heads together in frustration - probably that of a ref and an opposing player.

Yep, I was shocked nobody mentioned it either.  Should have at least been a T, more than likely, they should've tossed him.  Also, Artest should've been suspended for the BS elbow he held out there intentionally for Rondo to run into in game 6.  Dirty team, got away with murder.  Not a big fan of the WWF, er NBA right now.

Yes, caught it too and said so in the thread. Even Kobe's attempt at looking hurt where he touched the back of his head, because Rajon had grazed it, to see if there was blood  ::)

Just watched it on my TIVO'd game.  It was at the 8:31 mark of the 1st quarter.  Rondo reached in on the rebound and scratched Kobe's face, accidentally, so Kobe responded with a haymaker that missed.  Too bad for the C's that it did.  I was SHOCKED, nobody on the C's bench reacted to it either.

BTW, also rewatched some of the 4th quarter.  Some other missed calls that nobody has really mentioned:

1) 1st play of 4th, Gasol hits a turn-around over Baby, and they give him a phantom and-1.

2) Mid 4th, Gasol gets blocked by KG, falls out of bounds, the ball bounces to the ground ... is CLEARLY touching Gasol's foot as he's lying out of bounds (should be C's ball), as they try to pick it up, it then goes out on Pierce and they give it to the Lakers.

I just wanted to watch the 4th, one last time to make sure I wasn't just being a biased C's fan.  They did miss a foul on KG on an Artest fast break, but there were many calls that went the Lakers way ... no doubt about it.  The refs snatched victory from the C's.

I remember ThruTheLookingGlass point it on in the game thread. I reallllyyyy want to see the replay. Absolute rubbish that they 'missed' it.

I caught it immediatley during the action as it happened and I was pretty upset that there wa sa no call on it. Kobe comes down with the ball, Rondo makes a go at it, Kobe has the ball in his left hand and he just winds up and swings at Rondo. It looked like his fist was closed as well.

I don't mind all the bump and grind fouls, we win some, we lose some...

But these Celtics took an incedible amount of cheap shots and elbows on their way to game seven. Howard's elbows, Artest's elbow to Rondo's chin, etc. are just a few of many non calls.

Kobe's was a blatant and full out swing. For me, I would have hammered Kobe not long after that with baby or Shelden.

apparently any ref who saw it, should have immediately ejected him from the game.  I think they all saw it pretty clearly.  These are the rules from the NBA website.  see #4, a player must be ejected for an attempted punch which does not make contact.

l. A player, coach or trainer must be ejected for:
(1) A punching foul
(2) A fighting foul

I agree, as ridiculous as it might sound it was way obvious. He was in the air looking DOWN straight at Perks right leg and KICKED IT as Perk was coming down.

Go figure its edited out of all the replays on ESPN and NBA TV.

I still can't bring myself to watch the game, but I do remember the swat.
