This is some very good news to me. Do not leave the NBA to the Lakers.

PP opting out might be the start of Celts heading in a different direction. They may not want to pay PP more money and I could see a team that misses out on a top free agent going after Ray or Pierce. If Wallace got the money he go from the Celts, Ray is worth at least that, probably more.

Pierce isn't going anywhere even if he opts out. He would just sign a new contract with Boston ahead of the new CBA.

My happiness includes some hesitancy considering how hard it was to watch our regular season. Will we have an even more mediocre regular season next year? That would mean a lot of regular season stress.

For me it would the opposite. I would be less stressed watching them lose to NJ, NYK, Memphis, Indiana, or whoever, now that i know they are intentionally trying to prevent injury to key players.
TP4U. I was thinking the same thing.

Now, as long as I know they have the ability to turn it on in the post season, I'm going to be a lot less stressed over early season minutes and mid season losses. What will be important if they keep this team together are that they are healthy and rested come the post season.

Im sure someone else has made this point, but do you think the celtics might a little more inclined to try and get some homecourt advantage after losing a game 7 on the road?

I think they'll try as long as they're healthy. A big part of getting HCA will involve going back to being a good home team. Even with the injuries, if we started out our home games with the same urgency we did on the road we probably could have made a good run at the 3 seed.

That said I hope they keep on being road warriors in the playoffs no matter what seed we end up as.
