I feel like there ought to be a sticky in here explaining the cap constrictions the Celtics are under which mean they don't have a shot of getting a big FA this summer.

I'm getting kind of tired of hearing people throwing around ideas regarding signing LeBron or Wade or something.  It can't happen, but I don't feel like explaining the ins and outs numerous times.

I don't blame people for not knowing that fact (the cap rules are pretty convoluted) but I think it's important to have a PSA about that at the top of this forum so we don't get even more uninformed and relatively useless posts.

That one's really well written and explained, Roy.  I'm just thinking most posters don't see that, and even if they did they wouldn't think to look in the FAQ.

Considering most of these "Boston gets Max FA" posts end up in the Trade Ideas forum, I figure it'd make the most sense to have a sticky in here (as opposed to Celtics Talk) that simply states "Read This First: Celtics Don't Have Cap Space" or something like that.  It could link to the salary cap FAQ you wrote up.

This forum just needs something that states clearly that the celtics don't have the ability to sign a big free agent this summer, so there's no need to post about it
