Perk's injury puts Scal in a precarious position...  I now find it doubtful he'll come back.  We need a true big man...

Why?  We *do* need a true 5 (or two) on the roster, but we need depth at the 4 as well.  It's basically KG and Big Game Davis right now, and both of those guys occasionally play at the 5 (I tend to think KG may do a little more of that next season).  It's not like KG's health isn't a concern as well.

There will be roster spots available (what do we have, six guys under contract?), and he'll be cheap.  Fan favorite.

Uh, well...after five years I've come to the conclusion that he sucks... :)

Finally, someone with some sense! TP maybe 2!
The only bright thing about this summer is Scals contract coming off the books.

  • You say when......
For scals money, you can get a lot more..better to sign a younger guy.....6'8" isn't hard to find, maybe someone who is interested in using all th resources the Celtics org has to offer, to become a better player....and not a "fan fav"......

No thanks...  Five years of him was enough for me.  He offers nothing, and the only reason he suited up was due to Perk's injury.  He does nothing of value on the floor, and I'm not into signing a guy just because he's nice...

I agree. He should be someone we might sign up when looking at last roster spot having filled out the other. I cant believe he was on a 3m a year contract!
In Danny Ainge I Trust!

Once again, you've failed to see my point.  I'm not asking those players to "make an impact."  I'm wanting them to BE DEVELOPED.  Sometimes you miss (as you've pointed out) and sometimes you hit.  But we need to start scouring for players to be developed WHILE we still try to contend.  It's not impossible.

Afterall, what kind of impact did Daniels make this year?  None.  So why not have a young guy on the team that could be developed who comes CHEAP rather than paying for guys who do relatively nothing?

Scal offers us no future, would require more in salary, and won't sniff playoff minutes.  We are at a critical juncture in that we need to start finding players - who knows, maybe the next Bruce Bowen or Adrian Griffin are waiting to be found...  All they need is a roster spot, teaching and patience.

I agree with you AJ, this is the time to mix young guys that old Celtic scouts see potential, put them with our current pro's, you could at leat turn them into a Danny Ainge...Didn't he follow in Birds footsteps... That is how you build a team that stays on top, you won't always just get the superstar....that is dreaming stuff, besides, a lot of guys don't like the C's anymore, why, I don't know...it has been real team bball. Scal never developed into anything...and he had a lot of minutes, too many. Walker, Sheldon, they should have had his minutes...!
TP's for both of you.  I concur that this is a critical time for this franchise - although I always thought that Scal would take us to the promise land  ::).  I also agree that Walker should have gotten minutes, but not Sheldon.  BTW, doesn't the trade for Nate seem dumber every day?

Charles Garcia would be my idea.

Speaking of bench projects what's the latest on Walker, Hudson, Sweetney, Giddens and Erden? Anyone know?
Walker will probably get slightly above the minimum this offseason based on what he showed in second half with knicks. Although the knicks could very well be the best fit for his high flying style. Hudson has a chance to land on a team as a third string point guard. I would be surprised if Giddens was in the league next year. I think we could see sweetney on a sumer league roster, but not sure if ever managed to get into shape.

Well I did some research for my own amusement and it turns out Sweetney is trying out for the korean basketball league. http://www.kbl.or.kr/tryout.asp there is a list of some players trying out for the league. A few interesting names on there.
North Korea has a basketball league?

BTW, could someone please explain the exact function of Tommy Points on this blog?  Did I miss the memo (I'm one of those people that can never find what I'm looking for because it's always right under my own nose)?  Are there certain criteria for awarding them?  I know what they are after watching many a Celtic game, but what are they exactly on this site?  My conjecture was that the reasoning behind giving someone a TP varies from blogger to blogger (comments that make you laugh, cool pieces of info, knowledge that only you have, explaining something to someone (like right now) etc.).  Am I wrong?  There's a TP in it for the first person who explains it to me  ;).  Thanks.  Hey wait a minute - did I just answer my own question?  I'm confused.

I think it's the South Korean league. And yeah you did answer your own questions. It's subjective but that's usually what I give TPs for too. Rewarding other posters for doing something out of the ordinary or going the little extra mile.

Let Scal be a Boston radio personality and sign Matt Bonner instead.
