I do think he botched this game, but Doc has been great this playoffs, so I don't you should not want him back.

I couldn't believe they stopped going to KG or Wallace on the block!  So frustrating!  And why couldn't KG get a rebound!

Oh, let me stop.  I'm still steaming mad!

Doc made it abundantly clear that they stopped going to them down low because they couldn't.  KG was beyond gassed at that point, playing way more minutes than he had all season.  Rasheed was so broken down that he had absolutely no shot of posting up Gasol effectively down the stretch.  Sheed is apparently in so much pain that everyone is talking retirement right now.

Exactly.
Doc did what he could in that game. No Perk shortened our frontcourt rotation considerably. Sheed was dying out there, KG was gassed. I applaud his decision to not use Shelden Williams, he's shown no composure during this series. He wanted to keep going to the post, but the guys were too tired to be effective.

Had we been able to rebound early, last night's game would've been a blowout. That was his gameplan; win the rebounding battle and get out in transition. When we rebounded, we were effective. Unfortunately, we didn't hit the glass often enough (KG only had 3 rebounds last night... 3).

Doc made a gutsy decision to sacrifice regular season games to rest his important/older guys down the stretch. It [dang] near paid off in the end. I honestly don't think another coach would've had the stones to do that. He took heat in the 2nd half of regular season, but he dealt with it and stayed true to his goal to get everyone to the playoffs healthy.

I respect Doc. And yes, I hope he returns next season. KG himself has said he doesn't want to play for another coach. I agree with the big fella.

Doc did what I saw plenty of people on here the last couple of days telling him he should do, play the starters big minutes since it was for all or nothing anyway.
It didn't work out.  But I don't blame him for giving it a shot.  Listen, for as well as the bench played in game two, they played just a poorly for most of the rest of the series.

I'm not blaming Doc at all.  Besides, everytime I heard him talk I heard him telling the team to run.

This team just expended so much energy of defense that they had no more left to give.  But make no mistake, they wanted that game as badly as any of us, probably more.

the thread starter must be joking haha

sure,...you want the only coach to win a Celtics Chamionship in years.. a guy who motivated 3 all stars to be on the same page, to leave ? who are you kidding? He is presently one of the 5 best coaches in the league.

He is a nice coach, good personality and has helped us win 1 championship. But we won in the most exhausting manner and he didn't know what to do in crucial situations. We won basically because we had home court advantage.

This year he proved to us that dealing with injuries,, no home court advantage in the second half of the playoffs and more talent than ever (sarcasm) that he is a good coach but not elite.

Lets strip our team of Ray Allen, and lessen KG and PP's min and see how he can help us still be good

To me it stamped the deal he was just a good coach when his bench did well and he had to get the approval of his starters to leave them on the court.

I do hope that Doc takes the year off. He doesn't deserve to be stuck with a team that may as well be the shell of its former self due to injuries and retirement of key players.

I think Doc comes back only if the team looks like a contender.

I wish he stays even if we don't look to be a contender. Selfish I know but Rondo still has a ways to go and I want Doc to guide him there. He could stagnate or regress under another coach. Rajon and Perk are our young assets. I know Perk is in safe hands with Coach Ray. Not sure I can trust a new coach especially one who wasn't a PG with Rondo.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

Fail...  There are so many absurdities in this post it's beyond belief.

Not an "elite" coach?  Are you kidding?  There is no series greater than a championship series...  He beat the best TWO teams in the EC, and pulled it off withOUT the home court advantage.

And you don't coach the team you don't have but rather the hand you're dealt.  Your hypothetical situation (stripping our team of key players) doesn't hold water because a coach can only deal with what he has, not with what he doesn't.  That's like saying, "let's cut both your hands off and see how well you could type."  Which come to think it of it might not be a bad idea....

Sorry, but I can't believe you would cut Doc off at the knees like this...
"It was easier to know it than to explain why I know it."

Great points about Rondo. Since his high school days, he's a had a rep of being uncoachable but Doc seems to have gotten through to him and drawn the best out of him. He's hard on Rondo, but gives him praise when he deserves it.

Agreed...that's one of the first things I thought about if Doc doesn't come back. I mean, I think Rondo will continue to grow and get better regardless of who coaches him, but it will be interesting to see what happens.

JVG would be an awsome coach for our team. The guy was pro celtics all throughout color commentating

He thinks highly of rondo, perkins and would have told KG to grab the rebounds with both hands unlike Rivers

He forgot to mention to his team to keep utilizing the running game. Get Rondo running after  a rebound. But they were walking in the 4th. They were exhausted and on the court way too long.

He never used his bench properly (a really good bench at that), didn't trust them, and asked them to play "carefully and conservative".

Nate Robinson's threes would have helped. So would have Michael Finleys. I mean why in heavens did we sign him anyways?

Our defense was great but we needed to get energy from offensive points and he just didn't know what to do. All he said to his starting 5 "Put it out all in the line, pass the ball etc".

Are you kidding me?!!

Put in Tony Allen and have him run with Rondo when we really needed points in those last minutes

Phil Jackson is a better coach . Because he trusts his guys , including the bench players. They responded because they weren't so scared to make a mistake

Other than Rivers who would be a good candidate as our head coach?
Finley was a disaster in game 1.

Phil Jackson also leaves players on the bench when he doesn't have confidence in them.
