I hope Rivers does not comeback next year

He forgot to mention to his team to keep utilizing the running game. Get Rondo running after  a rebound. But they were walking in the 4th. They were exhausted and on the court way too long.

He never used his bench properly (a really good bench at that), didn't trust them, and asked them to play "carefully and conservative".

Nate Robinson's threes would have helped. So would have Michael Finleys. I mean why in heavens did we sign him anyways?

Our defense was great but we needed to get energy from offensive points and he just didn't know what to do. All he said to his starting 5 "Put it out all in the line, pass the ball etc".

Put in Tony Allen and have him run with Rondo when we really needed points in those last minutes

Phil Jackson is a better coach . Because he trusts his guys , including the bench players. They responded because they weren't so scared to make a mistake

Other than Rivers who would be a good candidate as our head coach?

I do think he botched this game, but Doc has been great this playoffs, so I don't you should not want him back. 

I couldn't believe they stopped going to KG or Wallace on the block!  So frustrating!  And why couldn't KG get a rebound!

Doc did a great job and had our players and team overachieving this year. I don't think we would've gotten this far if we had anyone else. IMO, his decision to stay or not reflects his feelings on this teams chances of contending. I think his leaving would signal the end of this new big three era.

Doc made it abundantly clear that they stopped going to them down low because they couldn't.  KG was beyond gassed at that point, playing way more minutes than he had all season.  Rasheed was so broken down that he had absolutely no shot of posting up Gasol effectively down the stretch.  Sheed is apparently in so much pain that everyone is talking retirement right now.

I somewhat agree.  I've never been his biggest supporter, but with talking to someone at the bar last night about basically the same thing and how Thibs was the xs and os guy.  With that being said, you can find another xs and os guy, if we can find another guy like Doc who can keep all of the personalities that he had to deal with in check, I'd be surprised.  Most teams don't have anywhere near the amount of character that we have.  Big Baby, Sheed, and KG are three of the craziest guys in the league.  Now add Nate Robinson, Tony Allen, Pierce, Perkins to that and most coachs would have tons of issue in the locker room.  So, for the first time that Doc has been the coach of the Celtics, I'll appluad him.  Is he the best x's and o's coach?  Absolutely not, but he held this team together while most coachs would have crumbled.

Its hard to run when they are pounding the offensive boards, and you need five players in the paint to try to rebound.

He is top 5 in the league at motivating his players. You might argue with some of his decisions but I don't believe we're even in that position without Doc.

I think Doc did an outstanding job this year...  Getting this team past the Cleveland Cavs, Orlando Magic, and 5 points away from a championship against the Lakers was beyond most's wildest dreams.

I believe he is under-appreciated, and the fickleness of people is sad.  Had we won that game Doc would be hailed as a hero today.

I like him and I believe he's a good man as well...  We will be a lesser team the day he walks out the door.

I do hope that Doc takes the year off. He doesn't deserve to be stuck with a team that may as well be the shell of its former self due to injuries and retirement of key players.

If Doc leaves, I'll be happy for him since he gets time to be with his family. But not because he didn't do enough. He's a big part of the reason we got that far in the first place. In retrospect, I believe Doc coached a better season than he did last year which in turn was better than the 2008 season. So strangely enough I think he's gotten better after winning a championship. So I'd expect that upward trend to continue if he returned next season and we weren't rebuilding.

My only question would be , who would you realistically want in his place? Doc did a great job. Everyone is so emotional right now and trying to find someone to blame when again the SOLE reason why we lost was rebounding. Had the C's rebounded effectively #1 they would've been in position to run, #2 this game would've been a blowout. and we'd be celebrating. Bottomline I suppose we didn't realize how Vital Perkins was to this Celtic's machine. So much so I was wishing we had Powe (for his rebounding) & House back (In my mind , House would've helped spread the floor and would've hit at least one 3)

Yaaayyyyy someone agrees with me concerning Doc. Good but we could have done better. He was not the reason we made it to the Finals. He got lucky getting Allen and KG and for Rondo to mature faster than anyone imagined.  An overplayed Pierce looked like most of Ali's opponents at the end of games. No it wasn't about rationing time but saving Docs derriere. Our defensive coaching genius was behind the success of the Celtics. In circles where Celtics were spoken of it was defense. Don't remember us having a defense before Thibs got
