firstly, im not starting this thread out of anger. but i strongly believe if game 7 was in boston we'd be celebrating right now. this is why you need to win games in the regular season. this is what you play for. homecourt advantage. if you dont think homecourt is important look at the 2008 celtics. first two series. i agree you need to rest your starters but you need to win games as well, you cant just coast through the regular season. im happy with our effort in the playoffs but if we played hard all season and had a better record than L.A., we'd have won the championship

yeah.  the importance of home court advantage was surely demonstrated tonight.

the Celtics got themselves up 3-2 going into game 6, but they had to play in enemy territory the rest of the way.

if they were in boston tonight, the lakers wouldn't have shot nearly as many free throws.  but they deserved to have that advantage.  they earned it.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

If we played that way we wouldn't be in the finals. Half our team would be on the bench in street clothes. Doc did a great job resting our guys to get them where they needed to be for the playoffs. We got to game 7 in the NBA finals. Doc positioned this team for where they had to be, and got them there in the only way we could get there.

Agreed.  If/when you play every game like a playoff game during the regular season, this team of old vets would be worn down like a shag carpet.  Sure we would have all loved home-court advantage, but it wasn't logical to play balls-to-the-wall with this team.

However, I do think it proves the case for a 2-2-1-1-1 Finals format. 2-3-2 favors higher seed way to much

First TP to the OP, because I was thinking the same thing after Game 5.

You're right, they need to switch back to the 2-2-1-1-1.  Game 5 should be on the higher ranked teams court.  Lots of people think that the 2-3-2 favors the lower seed, but that requires them to win all 3 at home, which has only been done once (Miami).

Actually the Pistons won all 3 home games against the Lakers in 2004 too. As a matter of fact they beat Lakers in the first game than won all 3 homes games to win the championship.
