I was just listening to WEEI and steve burton(ch 4) called in and said Perk couldn't even bend his leg walking out of the stadium. They said there is likely no way he can play game 7.....

That was Doc's take too. Didn't sound optimistic.

Perk thinks differently :)  He told Rick Bucher that he is going to try to play.  If anyone can, it is Perk.  The guy is pure heart.

It will depend on what the MRI shows and how it feels once the swelling goes down.

Its all good. We got ticket stub. I think losing Perk caught team off guard. I trust the ticket stub. I actually feel great about Game7 as long as refs are impartial.

yeah, based on how the knee bent, and how much pain he was obviously in, i see almost no way perk will play thursday. kind of kills us - we can still win, but it will be very hard. perk does so much stuff for us beyond stats. his rebounding, and boxing out so others can rebound, is a huge deal, and i just don't know that we have the size to compete with LA without him.

  • Rondo = Good
Sigh.

Well, at least if the C's lose we'll have an excuse like the Fakers did two years ago....

I've now got a ugly feeling about this next game. We didnt just lose we got blown out all the momentum is with them. They have homecourt, which no matter how good of a road team we are in a game 7 they got the HUGE advantage. No Perk the next game, if Wallace starts why am I afraid he will either be in foul trouble and/or t'd up before the half?

We saw the results tonight of what happens with no Perk. I'm very very worried.

Glen Davis looks like he's about to kill somebody. He sounds like he's ready to back up those words. And unlike Pierce's guarantees after Game 2 of this series and the last one, Paul actually sounds like he's ready to put his words to good use (according to his interview after the game).

PCL sucks, I did the same thing he did and I couldn't walk right for at least a week. But that was because of the swelling. I'm sure with all the world-class medical staff that pro-athletes have nowadays, he'll be good to go on Thursday night. No where near 100%, but it's Perk. He'll be out there giving everything he's got if he's at 12%.

IFF the refs "let them play" (and that means both sides) in game #7, this isn't the end of the world.  At this point, Bynum is basically a figurehead to give the Lakers the illusion of a physical presence for ten min. or whatever he ends up playing.  Perk has a similar role-- he's absolutely necessary to guard a healthy Bynum but since that isn't the case, his role is more to establish a physical presence and take pansy ass Gasol out of the game.

Now the good news is that Sheed can do the exact same thing, while providing much better offense.  He's not capable of playing big minutes in general, but for one critical game, he can certainly log 30 min.  The reason the aforementioned reffing is important is that Sheed is instantly in foul trouble in every game, largely due to ticky-tack contact (which is unfair given how they are reffing things in the last three).  I actually like seeing Sheed out there for a big game because he's a proven playoff performer and he pulls either Gasol or Odom away from the basket on defense, which really helps out the Celtics rebounding effort (and at least mitigates the loss of Perkins).

So my prediction is that if Sheed can give the Celtics 30min, they will win on Thursday, whether Perkins plays 0 minutes or 10 figurehead minutes.

[dang]... I really hope Perk plays in game 7 and has enough to contribute in his minutes because otherwise I don't see us winning. I mean, as much as I love Baby, his lack of length will always be a problem, especially if he plays against Gasol or Bynum.

Listening to 'eei this morning, as well as other sources, it seems fairly clear that we won't see Perk. It will take a Herculean effort from Sheed and Glen for the Celtics to win Thursday night. But, if Rondo comes to play, anything is possible.

i wouldn't expect much out of bynum either...so that will help boston...davis can play odom and KG gasol. they need to play their horses as long as possible tomorrow. now morw saving minutes.

i think a day off will help they regroup and prep for a game without 7...but it will be daunting

Just play as if Perk was in early foul trouble with Sheed&Baby knowing its all on their shoulders.
