Credit where credit's due.

The Celtics thoroughly beat the Lakers in the last 2 games.  Lakers won this one over the C's.

Don't think the refs had anything to do with the Celtics' last 2 wins nor the Lakers win today.

Agreed. The refs generally stop trying to manipulate the outcome of games once they are ensured of a 6 games series (or each team wins at least 2). Great game by the Lakers and pathetic game by the Celtics.

Should Paul have gotten some whistles on his drives? Absolutely.
When Rondo got hit should there have been a foul? For sure.
Did Kobe get some favorable calls? Of Course.
Did any of this have to do with The Celtics losing this game? In now way.

To compare this to The Kings/Lakers is beyond absurd.

Yeah, we got the short end of the stick on the calls but it had nothing to do with The Celtics losing this game.
summed it up well.  refs weren't the problem.  did they favor the lakers, sure.  C's got outplayed pure and simple.  refs didn't cause that.

argh but for some reason i wrote "now way"---oops.

refs did show early that one team could be aggressive and one team could not, very similar to game one. i think the perk injury took the wind out of teams sails; veteran team should be able to bounce back better than that.

very one sided reffing tonite though, to be expected when the lakers need a helping hand

Sadly this is one loss that the refs had absolutely nothing to do with. Refs don't make you miss layups and not play defense.

Please stop with the one-sided reffing crap. The Lakers fairly and squarely beat the crap out of the Celtics tonight.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Let me just say, Gasol is the same soft punk from 08, tigers don't change their stripes. In the games that he's played "tough" there's basically been a no touch policy on him. The moment someone bodies up on him or he runs into a tough shot there's a foul called. Of course he's going to look unstoppable when all his plays end up with a basket or a foul. Tonight the no touch policy was in affect. KG, Sheed, and BBD weren't allowed to go near him. That wasn't the reason we lost tonight, but it's been huge in the series, IMHO.

This is the all time worst ref blaming thread.

We got destroyed by the Lakers, not by anyone else. Even the most blind homer can't come up with enough alleged bad calls to rationalize a stolen win.

The Lakers out-Celtics us. They played our defense. They were everywhere. What I found most disturbing was when they pressured our dribblers back to mid court with less than 10 seconds on the shot clock.

They also hit shots early.

  • Rondo = Good
Celtics didn't play nearly well enough for the refs to even be a factor tonight.

But tell yourself whatever you need to make yourself feel better.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

This is one of the most embarrassing threads we've had in months.

It really becomes pointless to argue about this because people can perceive what they will. We humans tend to see what we want to see unless we actively try to compensate for out biases. People who indulge in these biases will come up with these kinds of victim positions. There is nothing the refs can to avoid this since both teams will always have fans like that.

It is a bit funny to hear people mentioning the refs after a game like that, especially the way the first poster ranted. While I understand how people think that way, I can't help but shake my head on occasions like this.
