Can anyone explain why Larry Bird doesn't come out and suppport his Celtics like many of the other greats?

As a product of the 80's, it sure would have been nice to see Larry and Magic makes some apperances together. How cool would that have been.

Maybe the Celtics don't invite him, can't imagine that happining since Danny is the GM.

Can anyone Explain?

Someone is p---ed that he got beched during the playoff.. top5 point guard mr Parker? what does that make the guy taking your starting position?

He's right like in '07 when Robert Horry gave a cheapshot to Nash and got Amare suspended.  The Spurs that year were not the best team...

The Suns were!

The 2010 Celtics are the best team whether Tony believes it or not!

This is one heck of a philosophical idea.  It gives me a headache just thinking about it.  Really though, all it comes down to is, does it matter?  If the best team doesn't win, does it make them feel better to go home at night knowing they were better, while another team goes home with a ring?  I certainly don't think so.

To me, sports isn't about better and worse, they are about winning and losing.  So while the best team may not always win, the losing team are always the losers.

The flaw in the statement is the word "best"  ~~~ the best team always wins!  Sometimes the more talented team does not win.  

As for Tony Parker he would seem to be too young to be a has been but he sure plays like one!

I believe that Bird harbors some resentment as he first wasn't offered Pitino's job and then wasn't offered Danny's role.  i also believe he has limitations due to a bad back.

It may be due to the fact he is affiliated with the Pacers?

The funniest thing is that Tony Parkers career is very similar to Rondo’s. And claiming that he’s overrated because he’s playing with a good team...

Tony Parker doesn't get it. Of course other PGs are harder to cover. However what makes rondo special is his defense, speed, leaping ability, IQ - not his scoring.

Tony, surely, you've been Rondo'd.

TP may be a jerk, but he's right.  You'd be crazy to choose Rondo over Parker in a straight-up trade.  Do you remember his Finals MVP performance in 2007?  And his 3 rings?

Also, whoever said Rondo is currently better than Nash... please.  Nash could hit 27% of his free throws kicking the ball.

I'm not sure why so many people are such fans of the kid.  Yes, he's supremely athletic but he can't shoot and makes spiteful plays (PASS IT TO PAUL!).  He's got an attitude I'd rather live without.

But whatever, if he can win me a championship I'll take it.

I think we are just misinterpreting Tony Parker.  I think what he's trying to say is that in 2009, the best team didn't win, because their best player was injured.

Dang so true.

Tony is French he is going to say some cocky BS, its culturally ingrained in him.

He probably doesn't want to be unseated or see Rondo move up the list. His comments in general give Rondo cred. its when people don't say anything at all that makes you irrelevant.

Real test for Rondo is in the years ahead. I think he has a chance to either become one of the absolute best players in the league and compete for MVP trophies or simply fold under the pressure without the big 3. If he keeps shooting Js and free-throws, working on his stroke during the summers, he should be alright and move up Tony's list.

Wow really, why are we fans of him? I don't know maybe because he's arguably been our most important player this year and is the reason we are even this far into the playoffs right now. Also for every "spiteful play" I'd say he makes about 10 spectacular/good ones.
