If I had a vote, it would be "Most Valuable Person".

That would be DA or Doc for knowing how to get the team ready for the playoffs and getting them thru the injury riddled season.

I was thinking this through yesterday actually.  The only way Kobe wins it in a losing effort if is if he comes up BIG in Game 6 and the Lakers win that one to force a Game 7, then lose there despite a huge effort again from Kobe (I'm talking 40+ both nights).  It also would require a "bench win" from the C's in game 7, like we saw in Game 4.

In short, KObe can have his MVP, but I don't see it happening of the Celts win tonight - and I think the Celts WILL win tonight.  Pierce or ROndo will get the MVP.

I think it is a commonly known fact that Hollinger is an idiot.
1) Right.  Hollinger has no credibility currently.  He didn't pick the Celtics to win so what good is his opinion.
It has been a very close series, I don't think merely picking against the C's is a good reason to dismiss Hollinger's opinion.

i really hope c's win.. just don't see them winning game 7, because of momentum shift if lakers do win in game 6.

Would Kobe accept it?

I doubt it. So they wouldnt run the risk of the MVP winner not accepting it. Kobe is going to be too busy cursing out his team to accept the trophy.

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
Isn't Kobe shooting around 40% for the series?  Coupled with that, he's only had one great night, and his assists, rebounds, and steals haven't been spectacular.

To me, those aren't "MVP on the losing team" numbers.

Imagine Kobe being handed the trophy and then SMASHING Lamar Odom in the face with it.

of course he'd accept it.  it would validate his opinion that he's played spectacularly, his teammates stunk and that the Lakers didn't lose because of him.

He's shooting 42% for the Finals, he's also hitting a solid 37.8% from deep. His eFG% .483 and TS% is .552, worse than I expected after the last two solid shooting games.

He's also turning it over 4 times a game, I have to agree Roy his numbers haven't been good enough so far to earn the honor of standing with West if the Celtics were to win as the only two Finals MVPs from the losing side.

I still don't care as long as we get the banner.

I'll be furious because Bill Russel presents that trophy.

Imagine Bill Russel, presenting a faker with that trophy in front of the Celtics

Without Rondo the Big 3 don't don't achieve what they have. Rondo's my pick for MVP at this point prior to Tuesday's game.

IMO, Rondo all the way. Rondo for MVP.

I really dont think that Kobe has been the best player in the series.  I also think that Nate has been more valuable to the Celtics than Kobe has to the lakers.  Nate had a very direct impact on two of our wins in the fourth quarter and Kobe seems to shrivel in the 4th all series.

It's a toss up between Rondo, Pierce, Allen, and KG.  All of em have had awful games as well as a great game.  Which ever player decides to step up in the clinching game will win the MVP of the series.  I mean, jeez, Big Baby could even sneak in there and win it.
do it

He hasn't been that much of a standout that they should give it to him in a losing effort. Right now Its Pierce or Rondo depending on how game six plays out.

Let me put it this way, if we win the championship, I could care less who wins the MVP. Who cares that West won it in 1969? In some ways, it would be a tribute to how we are doing it this time around, with great team work: great ball movement on offense (let the ball find the open man, right, Doc?), and great team defense (we will miss you, Thibs).

Let's go get 'em tonight, fellas.
