I think it is a commonly known fact that Hollinger is an idiot.

Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

I think Pierce separated himself in the last game just a bit. If he plays a big Game 6 in his hometown and I suspect he will then he wins it.

Yep - I like this scenario....or Rondo.

Kobe has had the better individual statistics, but it just wouldn't seem right to give it to him in the event that Boston wins this thing.

Lol that would certainly make the other players on the Lakers feel like complete losers.

You mean not feel much different than normally?  ;D

up until this point, i dont think kobe has been efficient enough for this to happen. A large part of the reason why hes the leading scorer, is because hes the leading shot taker.

I think it is a commonly known fact that Hollinger is an idiot.
1) Right.  Hollinger has no credibility currently.  He didn't pick the Celtics to win so what good is his opinion.

2) It's only happened once for a good reason.  It makes no sense whatsoever:  How valuable is any player if the team loses the series?

3)  Kobe's selfish play has actually hurt them since everyone else is just standing around and are not engaged in the offense.

Exactly, Surferdad.
I really don't understand the logic in giving the Finals MVP trophy to a player on the losing team.  Seriously, how "valuable" is this player if the team still lost?  Sure, Kobe often makes more of an impact and scores more points than most others on the court, but that only matters if the team wins the game.  It's only stats if his team doesn't win, so where's the "value" in that?  If he can't elevate his team enough to win the series, then I don't believe that he deserves to be MVP.
As far as what Celtic would deserve the trophy, I honestly don't know.  For a team that embodies the ideal of TEAMWORK, awarding an individual player would almost cheapen what they've accomplished, don't you think?

Kobe is averaging 30-6-4.5 with 4 turnovers. West averaged 37 points and recorded a triple double in game 7. Big difference. If they're going to shake things up, name multiple MVPs to reflect the team effort. Better than giving it to a loser.

Of course, it's all out the window until we actually WIN the fourth game. I hate all this talk about stuff that should wait till it's over.

It could happen, mainly because the C's have 4 candidates at this point. None have played well in all the games, or even a bare majority.

Hopefully KG/Pierce/Rondo will play well enough in the close out game tomorrow to get the votes to win the award. If not, *shrug*, all I care about is the banner.

Very true. I know West won it back in the day but if it happens again! Wow.

West won it, and in order for the NBA to rectify that mistake they just named the whole award after Russell, who actually deserved it.

All I care about is that the Celtics win the title. Beyond that, they can make Shannon Brown the MVP for all I care.

That said - Pierce as a two-time finals MVP? That sounds good to me.

Or KG getting one? How great would that be?

take the mip bryant i for irrelevant

and give me Numero 18

.

TP

I don't like to talk about the mvp now... Doesn't matter: i want to win the banne. We are in LA, do you remember? It will be very difficult, we need all the energy we can get. Let Kobe every prize he wants and give me the banner!

(the same thing happened in 1969... Don't bother me, because i like this)

Kobe should absolutely not win the MVP if the Celtics win.

The MVP:

-Is all about winning. Kobe would have lost.

-The MVP performs when it matters most.  His 4th quarter #s have been bad.

-The MVP distinctly makes his teammates better.  This is something he's very capable of, yet I don't quite know that he has.

Without Rondo the Big 3 don't don't achieve what they have. Rondo's my pick for MVP at this point prior to Tuesday's game.

No.  With the exception of that 38 pt game, Kobe really hasn't shot well enough to win the MVP if he loses.
