The only positive i can see from this is that the Lakers show up a bit over confident in game 7. This might be LA's payback for the game 6 '08 massacre. Now we have to "man up" and give one last push on thursday.

I don't like Shelden staying in the game against Odom + Gasol.

Shelden should have gone off when Josh Powell left the game.
On the bright side, the Celtics got away with that matchup. They held serve (2-2) for the final two and a half minutes with the Lakers holding a big advantage here.

LA really should have extended their lead. Too content with their earlier work, not hungry enough.

-17 on the boards. In one half.

I'd break something in the locker room. Absolutely unacceptable, regardless of who's on the floor.

Point guard is totally ineffective. Let's see Robinson in the second half.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

.

There is no comparison between that game and this one. The Celtics do not have their starting center and the backup, who can't play more than 20 minutes a game, has three fouls. This one is over.

Hmm 20 point lead. Well we are supposed to be one of the best defensive teams in the playoffs so let's prove it. Sigh and we give up ANOTHER offensive rebound as I type this.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

Wow... theorically this is not over and we've made a historic comeback in this building just two years ago. But the situation is so different. We had Perk (although he didn't play much) and we didn't have Shelden Williams playing big minutes. And the Lakers were not as good.

Things couldn't have gone more wrong in the first half for us, and we are down 20. Too bad because I thought with a couple of plays (and especially in and out shots) we could have cut it to 15, which would have been huge.

I just hope we get a (good) update on Perk's status and that he can go and play effectively in game 7... Otherwise it would just be terrible luck and we would be kind of screwed.

Let's see how the 2nd half plays out but I don't believe in a comeback. :-\

People need to stop bringing up 2008 with the comeback.

Two totally different situations.  It aint happenin tonight.

I HATE that they show Kobe with the daughter and crap.  Just trying to cover up how much of an **** he is and a bad teammate he is.

  • You say when......
he lakers knew perk on gasol was killing them.......none of that now......if someone could stay with gasol the same way......perk played great D on gasol..not so much on bynum.  like a chess match, our big for theirs....bynum has been out......perk is prob gone for the year.......only the lakers would want to win it this way.....so low...they will have a writer rewrite the ending to make them look better.....

offense has been pretty much a one-man show --> no passing or cutting or movement.  it's one man gets the ball and throws up a quick shot.  one the few time the C's drive, lakers are hacking like crazy with no whistles.

miracles can happen and they need one in the second half but I just don't see it happening.  too often we've seen this team mail it in and this looks like another one of those games.

hope to god Perk is ok.  I wouldn't play him tonight even if the doc clears him to play.

There is one key to this game.
Making sure Perk and Sheed don't pick up Ts.
Celtics fan for life.

Any potential comeback has to be centered around quality defense/rebounding + transition offense ... Rondo getting out in the open floor and creating shot attempts for himself and others.

The first six minutes of the third quarter, as far as tempo + intensity, will be telling about whether or not this team is able to make a run and give LA a run for their money tonight.

Missed dunks, missed layups, no hustle, NO rebounding...I repeat, MISSED DUNKS????

I don't recognize this team at all. I don't understand how you go from a stellar performance in game 5 to this. I expected them to come out as if this were a game 7, not relaxing as if they were on vacation and were good because they had one more to go.

I'm too depressed right now. Something drastic needs to go on in that locker room right now. I believe they can turn it around simply because these are not my Celtics. When they start playing Celtic ball they will be fine.

The first possession of the 3rd quarter will tell all.
