Hahaha, people on the Laker blog are still saying that's an obvious foul.  Fans are the same everywhere I guess.

Brilliant play by Tony, he had to dive to the ball as soon as it was passed.
Yeah they are, surprised me when I first saw it.

I can see their claim about Sheed pushing Gasol but Tony's block is about as clean as any where the ball is hit while still in the player's hands.

Ever notice how sometimes, after a great play, Tony has like an out-of-body experience, whether it be a little dance, or running after the ball after a made dunk?  It's like his mind goes blank.  I think last night was the first time he had one of those DURING a play.  He made the incredible block, and then inexplicably blocked it again with his other hand.  It was awesome, and something only Tony Allen would do.

Maybe that's one of the reasons I'm a TA fan ;D  Whenever I scored a goal in soccer growing up I never knew quite how to behave....At least TA does something as opposed to nothing ::)

By the way, sometimes when Tony's bad on offense it's due to a broken play or poor offensive planning....agree with wdlehigh (bad spelling)....he shouldn't have the ball....he should be running around making cuts and preparing to go for rebounds....

I said this elsewhere, if Tony's first name was Lebron, this clip of this particular block would be being shown on ESPN every 10-15 minutes and lauded as the play of the day week and month.

Because his name is Tony and not LeBron, that's not going to happen.

I have a technical question:

Tony got all ball, that was clear.....is that what negates the body contact in calling a foul?  I mean, if his body hit Pau before his hand got the ball, would it then be a foul?  Is it a matter of where he touches first??

wow after seeing it again i just realised.. he had to block it and then tab it off the backboard as to make sure it did not go into the basket does that count as a double block?

Tony Allen with the Double Block on Gasol.. crazyness

I'm really hoping for a Salmon and Mashed Potatoes throw back game in game 6 FTW. Tony could be a guy teams talk themselves into and we could facilitate a trade and get something. I could see him playing next to Durant and Westbrook in OKC if the GM wasn't as smart. He'd be able to take the harder defensive assignment, and those guys handle and shoot the ball so much, he'd be covered.
