From Adrian Wojnarowski at Yahoo. For my money, he's one of the best NBA writers out there...

BOSTON – On his way into the losing locker room, the most angry man in the Garden was heard to bellow a spontaneous stream of curses into the ears of his Los Angeles Lakers. As the door slammed behind them, a witness heard Kobe Bryant(notes) screaming that he needed some-bleeping-one to make a stand with him .

I know his tammates weren't playing great last night , but kobe has got to take some blame for this. Kobe scored something like 23 straight points in the 2nd and 3rd quarter. While he was doing this the C's lead went from 1 to 13. Kobe was ridiculosly hot during this period, but he took the rhythm away from his teammates because they were just standing around on offense.

Kobe was seriously just jacking up crazy circus shots after a while not trying to get his teammates involved at all.

Yup they were in Kobe watching mode. Jordan used to have a great sense of when his team was in that mode and he would make sure his guys stayed ready.

Last night Kobe wasnt looking to pass and when he did, guys were not in position to attack. Ill take that any day.

I'm not surprised by this one bit.

I don't know if I blame him too much though, as much as he stopped moving the ball he scored enough to keep the Laker's within striking distance. Their defense didn't do enough to create stops.

They're missing Bynum's early series activity desperately.

I love it.

Just how fragile are they as a team? Privately, the Celtics believed a Game 5 victory would have Bryant tearing into his teammates, thrusting them back into shells when they needed to be strong.

Celtics need to come out and punch the rest of these guys in the mouth defensively at the beginning of the game.

Boy do I hope that's exactly what we see in game 6.

i don't think it was kobe who let them down.  i mean i hate the guy as much (or maybe more than) as anyone, but his team let them down on defense.  Whether he scores or anyone else does, as Doc said, it's still 2 points.  So i think of it as the "Lakers" scored, then the "Celtics" scored.  the lakers defense in the 3rd when they could have made a run really let them down.  Kobe had to score just to keep the C's lead from growing, which it did.  Without him scoring this game would have been a blowout.

Personally, (and I'm being completely objective in this rare instance), I would hate to be on a team with Kobe Bryant, but I would love to play with this Celtics team ... I think that speaks volumes about the negative differences the kind of accusatory, arrogant, prima-dona leadership that Kobe throws at his team-mates has compared to the strength that unselfishness and team-first mentality like that of the Boston Celtics, and I think, like in 2008, when put up against a true TEAM, it will be their undoing.

If your not in the flow of the game it can effect your defense too. Not to say that Gasol, Fisher , Odom or Artest are great defenders , but if they get a few score and touches they give more effort on the defensive end.

The thing is, Gasol/Odom/Artest are all capable of being ++ defenders. We've seen as much this year and post season, but they're not executing properly. The Celtics are just beating them down while controlling the pace expertly.

The Celtics just need to do it for one more game...

I don't know about that, I think that had a lot to do wth having a somewhat healthy Bynum. With an injured Bynum

BBD and KG have abused Odom.
KG is starting to dominate Llama
PP can get his shot anytime he wants againstArtest

It's been said, and I agree, that great players are the ones that make everyone else look good, or make good players better.

Kobe has NEVER done that naturally, though he's refused to shoot, racked up assists at times, even talked a team game once in a while, but he's never, ever, been a team player.  I think the only thing he's learned over the years is that he needs a team to get HIM a championship, not that the team itself is what wins championships.

I think, down deep, he's still an uber-talent preps-to-pros spoiled, selfish, over-indulged, arrogant kid.  I'd bet my paycheck that Lebron follows a similar path, neither developing the maturity that KG managed as he grew into a man.  Neither will ever truly be a man, always blaming someone else when they come up short.

problem for LA is...they cant win when kobe scores big and the cant win when he tries to facilitate the team. i dont think this LA team is a great defensive team at all...i think bynum was fresh for the first few games but he is toast now. boston can man handle gasol with him out. artest offers zero...fisher had his one big moment and the laker bench has been bad all year...

boston can win this thing in 6. if they are aggressive and defend

I can't hate on Kobe taking over the game, if they played on the defensive end and made some stops everyone would be in Kobe-love mode. I'd only hate on it if he wasn't making everything he threw up. His play probably kept them in the game because Gasol was getting owned and the rest of the team is not that talented.

But Kobe is right, this falls on their defense and it belongs on milk-cartons.  First three games they dominated us defensively, with the exception of letting Ray get open in game two.

As far as the scolding goes. It comes down to how mentally tough this Laker's are. Do they stew on his criticisms and come back with vengeance, or do they start to play tentatively?  Our boy Larry was notorious for ripping apart his teammates. Nobody ever dared to criticize him for being a 'team killer' because he didn't play nice. That is probably due to the fact that his teams were mentally tough, he lit a fire under buts.

Can't blame Kobe for being a team killer if his boys do not rally around him...that falls on Gasol and Co.

Kobe's teammates are soft and under perform in the spotlight.

Kobe played a great game.  He made some good passes as well as take over.  His teammates did not respond.

He also played some good defense.  Where was the rest of the team?

I don't like Kobe, but he played a very good game last night.
