What did Maxwell do to win his 1981 Finals MVP?
1981 -- Cedric Maxwell, Boston
Averaged 17.7 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game in the Celtics’ 4-2 victory over the Houston Rockets.
http://www.nba.com/history/finalsmvps.htmlHe was certainly closer to 20 and 10 then Baby's current 10 and 5.
Baby would need to average closer to 30/15 (33/18 to be sure) in the next 3 games to bring his 10/5 up to 20/10.
33/18.....that's very unlikely and guess what? That's extremely far away.
You also have to put things into context. Baby is a bench player.
Even if you average 20/10 as a bench player...a star Starter, more often than not, will also average around those numbers.
And because that player is a "star" and a Starter, he's going to win the MVP if he had the same 20/10 stats.
This is why Baby has to have Starters play beneath their potential.
On another note: People talk about how dominant Jordan was in the Finals....Look at Shaq's numbers in the 3 Lakers' Finals. Those overall numbers are insane...probably the most overall dominating Finals production ever.
