Oh and by the way; show class. I gave a Laker fan a hug the other day. He tried to call me out because he'd seen me before at that sports bar, and I just went up to him and said "Good win man." Shook his hand, gave him that, well, bro-hug or whatever you call it, and went on. He smiled and didn't say a word anymore.

I see our bad image as a chance to come across as "the classy fan" easier than with any other franchise.

However, in '08 they had a "viewing party" at Staples for Games 1 & 2, and it only cost $15 to get in.

Yeah, that there is the problem.  The ridiculous prices of the normal Laker playoff games / scalped tickets keeps out the gangbanger "fans" (95% Cholo "east side esa!").  In return you get a passive, boring crowd but at least they aren't starting fights or rioting (as we'll undoubtedly see should the Lakers win the title, or heck, maybe even if they lose).

Somebody mentioned on page 1 that NYC is better.  I went to a sox/yanks game in the old Yankee stadium about 3-4 years ago with my ex and we didn't get treated to well.  There was plenty of playful banter going around all game, but on the way out, some belligerent yankee fans were taunting us pretty badly.  If I was drunk and not around a ton of other yankee fans, it probably could have escalated pretty easily, but I was luckily sober and smart enough to just keep our heads straight ahead and walk right out.  My ex mentioned later that she was a little nervous.
