Even though we won the game, Shelden Williams almost cost us game 2 today. I've never seen anyone who plays under 10 mins a game that can completely change the pace of a game like he did today.

Sure he's a nice guy, and maybe it could happen to anybody, but I'm expecting a 5th big man to be someone who might be a stiff, but doesn't really make many mistakes and just plays D and commits solid fouls. Shelden played good D for the whole season, but his play today is unforgiveable, I don't want to see him on the floor for the Celtics ever again. It made me want to puke when I saw those last 4 minutes of the second quarter and how shelden seemed to be involved in every negative play that happened. Every good thing he has ever done in his career has been negated in those 4 minutes, I hope he never wears a celtics jersey again.

I might be overreacting but imagine if we lost the game, there would be people going after his head.

Doc will probably not play him again after today, but I think Shelden has killed his chances of resigning with the team after today's game.

Yupp.. He had some nice runs early on here, but I kind of hope he's done and we get some real length in the draft.

When he came in I thought he was doing a nice job, then it all went to hell and just had an awful last few minutes. Bad passes, butter hands, missed rebound that led to a fast break, foolish foul on Artest, and of course those plays at the end of the quarter. Just awful.

I'd say Williams hands almost rivals Mark Blount in terms of awfulness. Seriously.

Don't be so hard on the guy... he committed two turnovers, the stolen pass that lead to the lucky 3 from Kobe, and another ball around the rim. He didn't get a call in an upfake where he was hacked, and he made that stupid foul... not a lot of positive, but it could happen to anyone.

To find game rythm doesn't look like an easy thing. Look, it's difficult even for HOF's like KG and Ray when "turrible" fouls have limited their playing time in the Finals.

He may not be as good as his wife, but Shelden is a hard worker, and in the end of the day this situation and the ugly turnover may teach a lesson to the Celtic players: when they lose focus, it doesn't matter how well they have been playing, they can loose the game in less than 5 minutes.

I'm hoping to see Shelden playing in game 3, if possible in the 4th quarter, and I'm not expecting that horrible officiating. You know what I mean  :)

The guy barely ever plays, and you expect him not to make mistakes when you throw him into a huge game against a great opponent?  Sheesh.

I don't blame Shelden for his performance tonight.  Yeah, he basically cost us half the lead we'd established leading up to the half, and that could have cost us the game.  But it was only because of foul trouble for the other guys that he was even forced to play.

It's unreasonable for us to expect a guy who never plays (who's never played on a stage like the Finals) to come in and not make mistakes.

Actually, you do expect him to come in and play a heckuva lot better than that ... that's what he gets paid for, and to be given the chance to play in a Finals Series game, you've got to be ready to come in and contribute in a big way. That's what these guys live for, (an opportunity like this), and if they're not ready or able to come in cold and contribute, then they shouldn't be on a team at this level.

Nate Robinson has shown a couple of times now what you need to do when given such a chance ... come in cold and do your job, not come in and play like crap. Sorry, but I just don't think you can make those kind of excuses for anyone playing at this level. If you're not ready or able to do your best when called upon, (no matter how long it's been), then you shouldn't be in the NBA.

Nate has done the same thing twice now, but has made the most of every moment he's been given on the floor ... Sheldon has been given similar chances and proven one thing ... that he's not ready at this level. The Finals is absolutely not a time when we can afford to give any player time to "warm up" ... no way. I pray Doc doesn't make the same mistake again.

This is a very tough series for Shelden.

LA only uses three big men in it's regular rotation (Gasol/Bynum/Odom) and each of them is either a near All-Star quality player or a bonafide All-NBA talent. In terms of ability, Shelden is wholly out-classed. To make matters worse, Shelden has struggled against long seven footers (Gasol/Bynum) throughout his short NBA career.

This is just a horrible horrible matchup for Shelden Williams. He is a massive liability out there.

That must have been the worst 4:13 minutes in finals history. Celtics won, so its nothing to harp on. Hopefully that situation never arises again, and if it does Shelden will bring his A + + game.

Meh....... I'm in the "Meh" camp on Shelden. I don't think the 11th man in our rotation warrants that much concern going forward. There was a pretty good chance he wasn't going to see the court again this series even if he played well, unless in a blowout.

Mehhh.

Sheldon got hammered and didn't get a whistle.

He did make some bone headed plays at the end of the 2nd half, but I bet he wasn't expecting to play at all let alone so early in the game.

But what can Doc do?

Our starting frontline and backups were all in foul trouble.

I've never seen that before ever....

Shelden's roster spot would be better used on an athletic big who can run with Rondo.

I've noted this elsewhere but I expect our frontcourt is gonna be rebuilt this offseason to that end.

Yup.  I was saying the same thing when people on this board were trying to say they'd rather have Shelden over Big Baby. ****.
