Well, I'm bored, killing time till the game and was thinking about this question: If you could pick one player from C's history to help us in the series against the Lakers who would it be? from what season?
The Immortals:

I'm going to say Kevin McHale.  The key to this series will be shutting down Gasol inside, and McHale could do that.  Also, McHale could score consistently on the block; I don't think anybody on the Lakers could stop him.

I didn't pick Russell because he doesn't offer the offense that McHale does, and he'd be somewhat undersized in today's NBA.  Larry is my favorite Celtic of all-time, and he could help *any* team win, but I don't think he'd be quite as good of a fit for what we need right now.

Larry would probably be my second choice, and Cowens may be my third.

I was gonna say Mikki Moore but Roy has some valid points. McHale it is then!
Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

How about John Havliceck? He's the perfect guy to have from the bench. Had all around game, could play both sg and sf, great defense, clutch shooting, very good finisher in open court...

I think the Chief would really give us some nice interior toughness and his defense might fit in better with today's NBA then McHales. I didnt see him play enough to comment, but the Russel Idea is intriguing. Also Greg Minor.

Russell:

no more rebounds to Gasol, Odom, Bynum

probably 6-8 offensive boards.

minimum 4 blocks

outlet passes to RONDOOOOOOO  all day long

will play 48 minutes and never stop running

he was able to compete and outplay Wilt but you think he'll be undersized?? That is really funny. He was a nearly 7 foot high jumper in hs back when this was unheard of.

On this team offense can continue to run through everyone else. Russ will get 20 and not need the ball
Series over.

I'm going with JoJo White...no disrespect to Rondo, but JoJo played 40+ minutes and could shoot.  Rondo's lack of a shot is making everyone else's game harder due to clogging passing lanes and doubling the bigs.

Good call on McHale, though.  Nobody could stop him in the post, and he was an underrated passer (when he passed...).  He did develop a nice 3pt touch toward the end of his career, which we could use now, too.

I think you're probably over-estimating Russell's offense a bit.  He averaged 15 points and 44% shooting for his career.  I think he'd struggle even more on that end in today's game.

Regarding stopping Wilt, that's overstated, and has become a bit of an urban legend.  Wilt's stats against Russell over the course of his career were actually amazing.  However, Russell limited Wilt just enough that the rest of Wilt's teams weren't effective.

Russell was an amazing player, the best Celtic of all-time.  However, I don't think his game would translate as well to this series as some of the more contemporary players.
