Okay, Perk lost his man every time...Bynums leg, probably a fake advertisement that WORKED very well on us......Never believe the other coach or his media....it is a chess match you know....Perk lost his man, always tries that "I'll help defense.." Gets a foul.....KG the same, lost Gasol so many times, look at the points those two put up....All you have to do with those types, is start contact as soon as they come under the free throw line, boody, body..ect, no hands or elbows, it is easy, but you must STAY ON IT...even when the ball is coming into the paint, the ruse is to move to the ball......then they pass to YOUR man, then you are undone...how many times did that happen last game....hmmmm, too many....Just cover YOUR man, watch the results....like most of you say...don't try to do too much...just do YOUR jobn, and it will work...i know, not just kg and perk, but that is a good place to start..!
Also, see when the lakers shoot...people going into the paint for the rebound..see when the celtics shoot, our guys running back on D...no one ever in the paint looking for a rebound.....HEY SHELDON, show 'em how it is done please......we must have forgotten or are tired again.....no rebounds, no championship, that doesn't mean only D rebounds, or just the easy ones...!
Since 2008, we haven't been crashing the offensive boards much because we don't allow transition points. That is how we got banner 17. Following your advice = no banner 17.
We also do not switch if possible, but we have to help when a penetrator beats his man. It is horrible advice to tell a player to stay with his man who doesn't even have the ball while watching the guy with the ball make it in for an uncontested layup. You rotate and trust your teammate to rotate to your man.
