A true innovator in the game with the 2-2-1 zone press, and a great teacher. It was a joy to watch his 1973 club with Bill Walton in the post play the game correctly at both ends of the floor.

Today America lost a very classy man. He won the most championships in college basketball, but he was so much more than a coach. He was a great father and husband and his players looked to him for guidance till the end when they were in their 50-60s. That is the testament to the man, he touched so many people without the pomp of other people in his line of work. I always wanted to meet him just once to listen to his advice on life and all in encompasses. I love RED but he was always second to Wooden... goodnight and thank you mr. Wooden

It's very very hard to think of a more respected person in sports and for good reason. He changed coaching in the best way possible. He stands in total contrast to way too many of today's coaches (I'm looking in your direction Pitino and Calipari)
