So...of players riding the pine, Doc usually says at some point that they'll win a game for us in the playoffs.  Old pal Scalabrine is running out of time this year...

I actually think he could help us at SF matched up against Artest or even Odom, who aren't that quick offensively, while Scal as a 3pt threat would help spread the floor, a deficiency which killed us in game one.  Scal usually is decent at fundamentals, like boxing out, too.

What do you think?  Will Scal make an impact, or is Doc just being nice?

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
I haven't heard any promises from Doc regarding Scal being in the rotation, so I'll say, no.  I doubt he sees even a minute of playing time in the series.

If Scal is our answer to winning a Finals game, we're losing this series 4-1  :P

Do you really think that Scal vs Odom is a good matchup? That would be horrible for the celtics. I hope Scal does not see any minutes, if he does it means Perk is probably suspended and wallace, KG and Sheldon are injured or in foul trouble.

Scalabarine won't play a minute in this series and if he does it'll give a large advantage to the Lakers. The Lakers are a very bad matchup for Scalabrine.

Well, maybe a garbage minute or two when the game it out of hand but I would be surprised if we see any more games of that nature in this series. I expect the rest of them to be hard fought battles.

Actually, Scal could be play a few minutes at small forward if the Celtics end up being truly desperate if Tony continues his poor play + Marquis doesn't get healthy.

Scalabrine plays more defense than Finley and provides about the same amount of offense and rebounding. It's an option. A last ditch option ... but an option nonetheless.

Sure Scal will win a Finals game for us...NAWT

Has he seen the floor at all this post season? And even if Rasheed or Perk are suspended, Sheldon will get the nod before Scal. Once Daniels comes back, we can all see Scal in his classy suits on the sidelines  ::)

Scal?!? He doesn't even get to play, so how can he possibly win a game for us? If he gets to play, it will be gah-bahj minutes, and not the crucial moments that win games. The only other possibility would be ctastrophic injury, and in that environment, he'd be horribly out-matched. No ... Scal will not win a game ... and most likely not even play in a game.

TP, Who.  That's pretty much what I was thinking, except adding that his shooting might be needed as an adjustment if they pack it in when TA/Quisy are on the floor, especially if either (or, gasp, both) are on the floor with Rondo and Perk.

I hope Finley is sufficiently embarassed after his couple of minutes in Game 1 to not suit up again.

Scal has already had a profound impact on our team all playoffs long, he helped us win every game...BY STAYING OFF THE COURT......!!! He HAS NO SKILLS...he is a novelty act and that is it..the token red headed Celtic. What you guys see in him is beyond me, beyond belief, did you read the Globe last Thursday, they had a full section on the teams....They correctly said Scal has no chance of any impact on this team........But.....if you like him, that is fine with me..!

No way Scal is going to play... Better yet win us a Finals game, but you really underrate Scal.

Scal played darn good last year coming in with all of our injuries and in the playoffs.

The only way Scal wins a playoff game for us is if he kidnaps Kobe on the way to the Staples Center...

Well, the all i can say is, if you like his play, that is okay with me....people see things differently, I'm kool with your perspective...! If i ran a team, no way would he be on it. A guy who gets the 6th highest salary on the team, has been in the league for 10 years, is 6'9"...and has no shot, no post play, doesn't rebound at all, no strenth, no physical play, not in shape, no muscle, has access to pro shot coaches, ex pro players for help and advice, and all night and day to practice, and this is all you get.....Yow....!

Last I read, Scal wasn't 100% healthy, and was pretty hurt actually, and would never have dressed had Daniels not gotten injured. I doubt we even see him in a blowout.

You might have gotten more "yes" votes if the question was "Do you think Scal will even get into a game in these Finals?" but even then I doubt it would be a lot more "yes" votes.
