CB Historical Draft: Vote Best Center of the Era

Now that the CB Historical Draft is nearing it's end, we get to look back and vote on who were the best of the best for that era. Here is the first. If you want to vote for a player not listed, just post their name here.

I have Shaq and Hakeem 1a. and 1b.

I'll go with the same answer here as I gave in the "best centers of the last 30 years" thread.  I give the slight nod to Hakeem, due to his versatility, and because he did more with less.  However, they're virtually tied.

I'll go Hakeem but extremely close. 

I'll use the '95 Finals as the tiebreaker.

Shaq.


He was the dominate player of his era (along with Duncan)



The Dream (like everyone else in his era) was behind Jordon.  His two titles came when Jordon was gone.

Shaq won his when all the other best players of his era were playing.

Shaq was really dominant, and i mean, the gameplay, rules, draft picks was influenced by this dominance.

This is tough between Shaq and Hakeem.  I went with Hakeem because he was a little more polished offensively, a better free throw shooter, and won his first championship without an all-star running mate. His best teammates were Kenny Smith and Otis Thorpe.  Next was Vernon Maxwell.  After that it was a rookie (Sam Cassell) a second year big (Robert Horry, before he was hitting big shots), and Mario Ellie.

Dream was marginally better when comparing careers, but Shaq was better over the past 15 years.

I voted Dream, but I'd love to see both play when they were at their primes.

Shaq was Just too strong to be stopped and Dream was all-around maybe the most polished Center to ever play the game, IMO.
