The Sixers would reportedly trade the second overall pick in this year' draft to a team that is willing to take Elton Brand's contract off their hands Brand's deal pays him $51 million over the next three seasons

If I am Danny I would offer Perk or BBD ,Sheed + #19 for brand and # 2

I might even throw in TA if we get a chance to select # 2 and get turner

Bos roster

PG: Rondo. / vet FA
SG: Ray.   / turner
SF: PP
PF : Brand
C;  KG.           / Haywood , Shaq or Big Z (mle)

I doubt that would trade to a team in the same division though....

I don't think it's enough to get Brand.

I'm sure Philly would want expirings for brand. And I'd be surprised if they gave away #2 just to get an expiring deal. But if so, that's the type of deal a willing to spend team can take advantage of to really make an impact on their franchise. Dallas, Perhaps, if their other s&t stuff falls through? Not sure Boston can get it done.

Also, #2 is scary...I like turner, but you have to hit a home run with #2, and there are some questions about turner.

Yea probably true.

How about Perk,BBD + #19 for Brand and # 2

They get a young center to team up with iggy which would greatly help their D. Get an adequate cheap replacement for Brand with BBD ( both perk and bbd would give them two young great role players with plenty of big game experience) and they would get a pretty good 1st round pick in a deep draft

  • You know my methods, Watson.
I don't believe this report for one second...  There is NO WAY they are handing away the second pick, especially with a talent like Turner available (or Wall, if the Buzzards pass on him).

Wishful thinking here, Celtics fans.  But not gonna happen.

Agreed -- willing to trade the pick + Brand for an All-NBA talent? Yeah, I can see that but the way that report was written they made it sound like they would part with the pick for cap flexibility (to get out of Brand's contract). No way that is true.

Yeah...  we all know here how tough it is to get that pick, and as someone who is from Ohio and a HUGE Buckeyes fan, let me assure you that Turner is a sure thing. He's a great talent, solid shooter, quick first step and finishes well around the rim and a capable defender.  I don't see the 76ers, having just hired a coach that is not a sacrificial lamb type, being told that the process will be pushed back yet one more year.  It makes no sense...

Sign and Trade with Toronto?

That could work. Brand would still give toronto an low post player to copliment bargani and turner(a future all star)

For philly Bosh and Iggy give them a great # 2 and # 3 , but they still need a closer or a 3rd allstar.

Who says no?

Minnesota trades Al Jefferson and #4 pick
Philadelphia trades Elton Brand and #2 pick

Al and Brand both have 3 years left on their contracts; Brand's is slightly more expensive in each of those years.

Yeah, I was thinking about this earlier. I don't think that we have what the Sixers are looking for. They're definitely going to want a starter in exchange for Brand and #2. Young talent to build around. I mean, I like Perk, but he somewhat duplicates Dalembert. I don't think the salaries match anyway.

I think Utah could put a package together featuring either Okur or Kirilenko. I think Turner (and Brand of course) would be great on that team.

Great deal for Philly. Not so for T'Wolves.

AJ + #4 > #2. Why would anyone want Brand?

To get Turner at #2? Don't know, just spitballing. I think you're right, though, it's probably not worth it for Minnesota.

Would a Brand-Love frontcourt be more, less, or as successful as a Jefferson-Love frontcourt?

I would call that the proverbial equivalent of moving deck chairs on the Titanic...  I would trade Love before Jefferson, just because I think he's a better low-block offensive threat who would play better next to a defensive oriented center, helping to mask his defensive woes.

Elton Brand doesn't make any team better...  The sixers are stuck with him, unless Chris Wallace is getting the itch. :)

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
I know the Sixers want to move Brand, but I can't see them sacrificing the #2 pick to do it.  If they move Brand and the #2, they'll require talent in return.

I'm probably one of the few fans that actually believes that Brand has a lot left in the tank, although he does need to get in better shape.
