You are greatly underestimating them.  The Lakers are a VERY good basketball team...  Should we meet them in the Finals, it could easily be one of the best series in a LONG time and equal the epic match-up of 1984.

Do people not remember how we HUMILIATED them two years ago?  The Celtics positively DESTROYED the lakers that year.  Yeah it went six games I know but come on man, that series was a joke.  the lakers have NO chance.  I'm more concerned about the Magic shooting lights out tonight and getting back into this series.

And see - that's the thing...I'm not underestimating the Lakers, but the 07-08 Season seems to parallel this season in so many ways:

Lakers waltzed through the Western Conference that year. We struggled in almost every series.

Lakers were heavily favored that year. We were overlooked.

Not overlooking ORL (or Underestimating LA), but I really Like our opportunity for the next 3-4 weeks.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
Always respect the opponent...

The one thing that cannot parallel the '08 season to this one is the "revenge" factor.  The Lakers will come into this series with a chip on their shoulder, knowing they will be reminded everyday of their loss to the Celtics in that series.

I like our chances a lot...but I also like LA's chances too.  I believe that both teams are better than they were.  But I'm not going to mark this one down as a done deal for us just yet...

You might be right about "revenge factor", but you can't forget that press conference after game 7 in the Orlando series last year. The captain was the reference of how frustrated was the team, knowing that with KG and Powe, they could have reached the Finals, and try to win it all again.

The "we could be trying to three-peat in 2010" factor is driving the Celtics, and the "we are a team" factor plus "ubuntu" factor and don't forget "that's playing defense" factor will play a big role.

I think is still soon to talk about Lakers (or Suns). The Celtics must win on monday and then work hard to prepare themselves.

Go Celtics!!
