With Ron Artest's defensive intensity in the Playoffs, it made me think.  Is Tony Allen our version of Artest.  T.A.'s defensive intensity will counter anything Artest can bring.  Artest isn't lighting it up offensively. We all know how valuable T.A. has been.
T.A. is a beast.

They are similar in their role, but Ron Ron plays a lot more minutes than Tony.

I don't think their impacts are all that similar, LA depends on Ron much more.

I think T.A. is more valuable than R.A.  What a bench blessing he turned out to be.

 ???

One is a starter/fringe all star.

One is finally playing well as a role player off the bench.

Artest was once a great defensive player but is just good these days. I think if Tony Allen was used strictly as a defensive stopper instead of an occasional point and sometimese needed scored then he would be a great defensive player too. He doesn't have to stop Kobe, noone can. However, if he just slows him for 10 minutes a game then we have a good chance of winning a series with L.A., assuming we get there.

Artest and Tony are both defensive oriented, but are very different.

Artest is a 3/4
Tony is a 2/3/1

Artest has a better offensive game and is a banger. Tony is a fast footed leaper.

Let's not jinx ourselves.  We aren't in the finals yet.  Still got to get two more wins against a motivated Orlando team.

Artest is 6 years from his only all star game. I don't think he's playing much better than Tony right now.

I don't think Artest is much of an offensive player anymore.

We know what Artest is and or was. No denying.  But this play off season, T.A. has been great and there is no reason to think that he won't continue. I was thinking about the intensity Artest had last year when the Rockets played L.A. And how T.A. has brought it this season defensively.  If we get by this series, T.A. will counter any defensive toughness that Artest will bring.

He's a decent three point shooter when he has his feet set. But other than that he's pretty limited.
