This is a topic that is very big to me. I really wish that Nate would get some clock and I think he could help this team a lot! Saying that he hasn't played a lick of time in the playoffs.. I was wondering does anyone think he will return to the Celtics next season? It seems like he likes it here but I know its tough for him not being able to contribute. So what do you think. I think we should take him back if possible and get a training camp under his belt ya know.

He moves on.

Until then, he has time to practice his towel swinging.

If he accepts the Non-Bird exception, I'd take him. Otherwise, I'm up for looking at other choices.

I have to think he'll want to look for a situation in which he feels he can get more playing time. But, I also haven't seen him complaining AND he's been a pretty good cheerleader on the bench, so maybe he likes this team.

He probably moves on.  His contract is going to be tiny compared to what it would have been if he was a good soldier and gave 100% to the Knicks last year.

I agree.  I'm sure he like the winning atmosphere, but something tells me that Nate still thinks he can be a star player somewhere, or at least have a big role.

Can someone explain to me why the Celtics want him back?

He is a bad fit for what the Celtics do.

The reports are that they find him immature in the locker room.

He has been buried on the bench.

I think he'll move on.  Hopefully we can sign-and-trade him and pick up some sort of asset, although that may be unlikely after Nate's year (where he seemed to fall out of favor with two separate coaching staffs.)

And by most reports isn't fitting in well with the Celtics players either.

I just checked Nate's salary... a non-bird contract would be too expensive in my opinion, particularly with the value he might add. Though, if it's a two year deal max, I'd do it. He's young and quite tradeable in some packaged deal.

A sign and trade would be in our best interest, since I don't see anyone offering him more even if we don't have Bird Rights.

With a non-Bird contract, we don't have to give him the 20% raise.  We'd have the right to actually decrease his salary, as well, which is what I see happening (either here or elsewhere.)

Wasn't aware of we being able to decrease the salary.

Then whatever, hope we get value regardless of where he ends up.

I'd still risk overpaying him, even if it will simply to have a trade asset in a year or two (no more than that).

We have a depleted team at the moment.

Dancing! Dancing! Danc-ing! He's a dancing machine!

I actually don't mind him as a role player, and as a bench guy kind of enjoy some of his antics. At the same time, as it was pointed out on BDL, I don't think he's ever once bothered to even fake like he's paying attention during timeouts and huddles.

How would a sign-and-trade work when we don't have his Bird rights?  Would we have to sign him using our MLE, letting his new team use their own MLE on someone else?

I don't see how Nate Robinson showed anything this year, either in New York or in Boston, to justify anyone giving him more $$ than he earned this season or giving up anything in a trade asset for him.  If the dude had his head on straight, I could easily see teams targeting his as next year's Jamaal Crawford, but I don't see teams vieing him that way anymore.

Non-bird rights. Look it up.

We can sign him using that.

The only problem with him is he is too short to play in a team defense at a championship level in the playoffs.

Other than that he's okay for this team.
