Nate will take his ring and experience and go. He will sign with some really bad team and live out the rest of his NBA career being the ball chucking, immature punk he has always been.

Ainge added some pieces to a team that appeared primed for one final title run, but none have worked. Rasheed Wallace has been inconsistent. Marquis Daniels has showed he can’t produce in the spotlight and is best suited for a smaller market and less pressure. And Nate Robinson has been tentative, and privately the organization has questioned his maturity.

So, how big is Rubio, is he still growing?  Why doesn't Minny give us Rubio, Sessions and Gomes for Perk and the #19?

Then, starting year after next,  Rubio starts at the 2 next to Rondo for the first 3/4 of his career ( ;D).....with Sessions the backup.....

and we somehow geniously replace Perkins with a brute.....

I know I know.....Minny getting rid of picks......well they can trade the 19 too.....
I know I know......Rubio would never come to join Rondo.........I know neither Rondo or Rubio can shoot from the outside.......that's why somehow we get a genius of an outside shooter to start at the 3......with a chiseled Dexter Pittman and a chiseled Tiny Gallon in there at the 4 and 5...... :o ::) :P

I think the chances of nate being around are pretty close to 0
I actually don't think we need to look for a backup pg  ??? what did i just say
no its true i think tony has earned the 10 minutes a game as pg and we can sign him relatively cheap
have danny draft a 2nd rd pg for emergency

Can someone explain to me why the Celtics want him back?

He is a bad fit for what the Celtics do.

The reports are that they find him immature in the locker room.

He has been buried on the bench.

but he can slam dunk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ;)

Then resign Green for the minimal.  His dunks were better.

Doc was on WEEI yesterday and said the exact opposite.  He said both Daniels and Nate have been consummate professionals with regard to their playing time and have not complained.  He said they've been great.

One can be professional about not making waves about one's playing time and yet still be considered immature in regarding to being on time for meetings and practices and shootarounds, game preparation, diet, work out schedule, practice habits, decision making, and a host of other things.

It is possible to be a professional about certain things and immature. Besides, what's he supposed to do throw the guy under the bus and decrease his possible sign and trade value?

The problem, of course, is that any PG we get next year is going to be largely relegated to the bench come playoff time.  Moreover, no good point guard is going to want to come into that situation.  So I'm not seeing things getting much better any time soon.  Ultimately, the most we can hope for is an aging vet who can put in 10 mpg in the regular season and then is OK with largely becoming insignificant come playoff time.  Maybe we get lucky and get some sort of super combo guard who can play some 2 two (a Delonte type); however, at this point I wonder how much time there's going to be there with Ray and Paul likely back and TA looking for more minutes.

Ultimately, I don't hate Nate and what he brings.  I don't think Eddie House would be doing anything differently right now (sitting on the bench).  Moreover, if Rondo went down for a game, Nate would probably give us more in a starting role than Eddie would.  And let's face it, no backup we ever will get is going to be good enough for us to win a title if Rondo goes down for the season.

I agree, especially as far as your last sentence; I'm sure Doc sees that at this point, too. Fact of the matter is, when Nelson went down for the season last year for the Magic, the Magic had to trade for a PG capable of starting. I dunno if we could do that on the fly if Rondo went down, but that basically sums up how we'd have to handle that.

But the thing is, Rondo is way better than Jameer Nelson.  Nelson is a nice basketball player, but he's essentially a good shooting guard playing the point.  If Rondo goes down, unless New Orleans, Utah, Chicago, Phoenix, Oklahoma City, or Dallas decide to give away their starting point guards, this team isn't going to come remotely close to winning a title.

So I really think the backup PG spot is really just about giving Rondo a blow for 10 mpg in the regular season and being able to play tolerably if he goes down for a little while.

I think he'll move on.  Hopefully we can sign-and-trade him and pick up some sort of asset, although that may be unlikely after Nate's year (where he seemed to fall out of favor with two separate coaching staffs.)

I thought this was well stated.  Nate has clearly fallen out of favor with the Celtics coaching staff at this point, which is clearly due to his tentative play when he was given minutes.

However, a training camp might change that.  Nate, certainly has a skill set to be:  a)  back up point guard off the bench
                        b) an offensive spark

and generally a good role player.

I don't quite believe the gossip that he is immature in the locker room, which is irrelevant anyways.  It is however typical that people quickly trash players or jump on a bandwagon depending on their current success or failure.
Tony Allen and Rasheed Wallace will attest to that.

What has really doomed Nate, is the success of the Celtic's current rotation. However, Danny wouldn't have made the trade if he did not anticipate a possible future role.  Alot will depend upon the other options afforded Boston in the off season.

I'd like to see Nate brought off the bench occasionally against the Lakers.
