I'm just sick of seeing posts like this about Drew, and I agree with Fan from VT. They're pretty much exact opposites. Sheed's got a loud mouth and always shows tons of emotion, but has played horribly all year long. JD is quiet and goes out of his way not to show up umpires even when he disagrees with calls, but always gives it his all and has produced to the point that he is statistically worth the hefty salary the Sox are paying him. If you actually watch instead of taking WEEI's word for it, he runs EVERY ground ball out and and is great in the field. On top of that, JD also happens to thrive in clutch situations.
Statistically his UZR and his OPS have been near the top of league at his position since he's been in Boston. All visual evidence indicates that he tries hard. He doesn't show much emotion but all his teammates seem to like him, and he never seems detached from the game.
In '08 injuries plagued him a bit but in '07 and '09 JD played a standard number of games. There's a huge gap between what fans think they know about JD's value and what they actually know. With Sheed, everyone knows he's a bum at this point.
