That may be one of the best articles I have EVER read...ever!  Not a wasted sentence and every thought was very pointed.  Thanks for sharing!

The "New York Knicks!" chant really got into the teams head, if not Lebrons definitely his team mates..

There's no doubt the Cavs quit at the end last night.  I don't know if they were quitting on Brown or just in general.

As a point of reference to the possibility of their own late game heroics, they were down 104-96 with 38 seconds remaining against the Bulls in game 3 and had a half court shot (could've been a better shot if Anthony Parker would've given the ball up) at the win.
Granted, the Celtics are not the Bulls.

Wow, that article summed it up perfectly for me.  I feel for the Cavs fans after reading that.  Its one thing for your team to lose, its another to see its spirit broken.  I guess to me its the basic sports rule of always giving your best, running out every hit in baseball, hustling after the lose balls in basketball.

Definitely agree, well-written.  I love the drama he adds by dropping in "...59, 58, 57 seconds..."  Really brings you back to that moment.  I was watching with my best buddy and I was yelping about why the Cavs weren't fouling.  Like others have said here, they could have fouled Rondo at 56 seconds and he very well could have missed both shots.  Then they could put in Gibson along with Mo and LeBron and somebody might have hit a 3-pointer that would have brought it to a 6-point deficit with maybe 40 seconds left.  This is basic end-game coaching.  I heard that Brown was waving his hands to them to foul and they just didn't pay attention to him.  In other words, they quit.

closing nine points in 60 seconds? I agree its not impossible, just percentage-wise very low chance.

My bro also said "Reggie Miller scored 8 points in 5 seconds once"
Remember T Mac's torrid comeback?

There is no reason not to try, except for pride maybe.

That was a great moment. Everyone looked like they were ready to cry. If Lebron leaves, that team is getting on the lottery bus.

We gave the Cavs great incentive to quit for 5 games, three quarters and ten minutes.

Can't blame 'em for taking the last two minutes off.  :D

We broke their spirit. Cavs just didn't believe that there is a possibility to comeback. A beating in 3 straight games does that to you.

Well, the Cavs' season ended exactly the way it had started....loss against the Celtics.

  • You say when......
I don't think they quit...like some said here, they weren't really in it.....at the end, why foul, there was no way to catch up, around 3-4 minutes maybe, under 2, no way. They didn't quit, they were just too far out of it at the end....!
